MommaDorian-
Can we see it with a half-dropped block so they're offset, with thin red sashing? Are those actual blocks or are you playing around in Photoshop again? ;-) |
Black is too severe; your blue is distracting--too bright; Red is very nice, and white is gentle and lovely. Have you thought of a very narrow black inner combined with the Red; or a narrow red with a wider White?
MTS, She sent me pics of actual blocks...I have been playing in Paint with them.
With no sashing new patterns emerge, and it's very interesting, but maybe a little too busy. I think I like the narrow white best, although before I saw the narrower version I preferred the red. Or maybe you could do narrow white sashing with red cornerstones. I love that block design!

I'd probably go for the red - but much narrower. And the idea upthread of combining 4 without sashing is interesting. Or what to do they look like with a thinner sashing but dropped a half-block? Or on point? I'm for anything that avoids the ubiquitous squares in a grid layout. ;-) I'd also been thinking of on point ... and wondering about filler blocks of the print. And totally agree ... avoid squares, and head to on point |

Outstanding! I would go with thinner red shashing.
I agree with Lisa. the red looks best to me. Great blocks, very pretty.
I like the red too!
Red or black! :)
I like them all, maybe use them all in it. Just a suggestion.
Add my vote for the red. Love that block.

I like the thin red sash!
Show us when you are finished! |
I'm with you-- thinner border. But who am I to say since I'm in the minority: I like the blue!
I like the red!
Not an expert on this, but I love the secondary block that you get when you do not use sashing. I love it!
That is hard to tell...I love your blocks... the black makes the block-work stand out more, which is beautiful... however the blue is very pretty and so is the red... If you are trying to match the quilt with some other color in a room (i.e. blue or red) I would use the matching color... but I really like the black as I think it features the blocks best... will be a beautiful quilt.
I like the background white the best. Gorgeous blocks. Don't ya just love how nicely you cn make really sharp points with paper piecing?
gorgeous blocks. I like the red or white myself.
Much better with the narrower red sashing. I like it.

Edit: I wonder if a slightly narrower sashing would make a difference? Seems to me that the sashing width almost overpowers the very intricate blocks. Maybe a red sashing width more in keeping with the width of the red in the blocks? |
I like the red.
I love your block, I really like the blue one, and the red one. But I am sure what ever you decide will be beautiful. My first choice is blue.
I love the block!!
Red or white!
red
I like the red
I'd say black first. The red is my second favorite.
Love the blocks, I like the red shashing the best.

I like the red best. They would all work though.
I like the red and then the white. What beautiful blocks!
I agree with Rita - no shashing - there's a secondary pattern that develops without sashing.
Definitely the red--beautiful quilt!
