Instead of sewing I got these treadle iron pieces from a friend -cleaned, painted then mounted a piece of chopping block wood to the top for an extra table in kitchen.
Thanks for looking --was in Vintage area few days ago but intended to share with all. Now usable |
What a beautiful table. You did good!!!
my dh is looking for legs to do just that with.. nice to see a pic of it !
I used to have one very similarly made that I used in my kitchen as an island. I have a set of legs now and plan to make another one. They come in handy for all sorts of things, even as an added quilt space next to your sewing machine when FMQ.

I love it! What a fabulous table!
That's very attractive...and usable!

Looks so nice!! And saving anything from a landfill is great!
Great save! The table looks fantastic!
Great save. Love the table, could use it in my sewing room.

Great idea!! And that would fit a vintage table top sewing machine, too!! :-)

Wonderful trash to treasure project.

Wow, all it needs now , is a large bunch of spring flowers, or a vintage machine of course.
that is so cute
very pretty! It's gorgeous.
Well done, looks beautiful.
oops double clicked!
That's similar to what I'm trying to get my DH to do with mine. I wanted a long bench/table like top for a plant stand but he's just never gotten around to it! :-(
That's so awesome!!
Oh, so nice.
It made a nice table.
Great Save!
Great job.I really like old stuff like that with a new life for it.
Don't you love re-purposing. :-)
That is so much lovelier than the one my DH made. lol
Nice save.
looks great, I just found an old treadle base at a rummage sale for $5. What did you use to clean them?
It did make a very cute table
So many uses for those, nice!
great save!

Will reply here so others can read too. Washed with strong soap and water. Then used a wire brush to remove any loose paint/rust, washed and dried before I sprayed legs with 1 can of inexpensive black paint -because it's for inside usage. I had the chopping block piece of wood
(24" x 27") that was lightly sanded with 0000 steel wool, well cleaned off, even used cloth with bleach to finish cleaning/sterilizing. Rubbed in light coating of olive oil just before I took the photo so I didn't want to set anything on the top until dry. I have a large chopping block over 175 yrs old so have special oil that doesn't go rancid for food use. Skilled in refinishing so this was a small job to do. Today will keep at the Singer cabinet that I want done by Tues.
