I love the quilt. What magazine was the pattern in? I would love to find it. Thanks for the pics.
Thanks Joey, and Sew and Sew!!!! :D
It was on the cover of October's American Patchwork & Quilting. I got it from my library and want to buy it as one of my DIL's also wants a quilt out of it, and so far haven't been able to find it in the stores! Think I'm going to run up to Barnes & Nobles, look for it there. |
I'm sure she really loved it! First of all, it's gorgeous; secondly, you took the time and used your talents to make something especailly for her! What's not to love!
Very nice!
Wow thats a fake smile i'll trade a real smile for that one it's beautiful
Thanks so much, Harmony, Katier825, and Mountain-moma!!! :D :D
Beautiful quilt. Cake doesn't look at all bad either. Yummy.
Hey lady, you got good taste in mags, (I have that one, lol), and in fabrics and patterns, and you did a great job on the quilt. Pretty nifty with a camera too. I love autumn quilts...and Christmas quilts, and samplers....and...and...
Gorgeous quilt. Love the colors. I can see why you would like to have kept it.
Diana, that's a beautiful Fall quilt. The boys are so cute. Are they your grands?
What a wonderful, colorful quilt! How perfect that is for getting cozy under!
But as much as I like the quilt, I have to admit I'm really curious about the size of that can of Coke on the table. Is it real? |
Thanks so much Sash, Quiltncrazy, Kd124, Sheila Elaine, and Lisanne!!!! :D
I am now making myself one of these 'Scattered Leaves' quilts!! I had to pull up one of the pictures to see how to put the leaf together! lol!!! (I had returned the magazine to the library) Yeap, those are two of our eight grandkids! :D :D The coke can is just a regular can of coke. Must be the angle of the shot which makes it look different! lol!!! Thanks again, all of you!! :D |
Your quilt is beautiful!!
A happy scrappy autumn feel to it. I can see her wrapped up in it with her sons!! :D |
Thank you, Justquilting!!! :D
I can't wait to get the one for me done now!! lol!!!! |
Dear birthday quilt maker, fabulously beautiful quilt!!!!!!!!! Where DID you get the pattern??!!! You did a great job!!
Thank you, Betlinsmom!!!! :D
The pattern is in the October's American Patchwork & Quilting magazine! I got it from my library. I'm making one for myself now, it's really easy, and fairly fast, to do! :D |
Oh, nice. Beautiful job! Looks like she is very happy with it.
Thank you, Boston1954!! :D
You could always go back to the library and make a copy of the quilt instructions. Our library only carries one quilt magazine , and it isn't a very good one.
Elaine |
Thanks Elaine, but I had gotten smart and wrote down the sizes that make up the leaf part! The rest is just 2" strips. :D
And this is the only quilt magazine my library carries! What are they thinking??? lol!!!!! And all the quilting books seem to be quite old. But I discovered the inter-library loan program, so am getting quite a few through that! :-) |
Yours is beautiful! I'm working on that same quilt for my daughter's husband's sister's wedding gift. I looked at the magazine at the shop where I quilt twice a week and drooled over that quilt so much that I finally went out and bought the magazine.
I got my magazine at Joann's.
Great quilt....I can see why you are making it again! I do love the fall...just don't want it to roll into winter! She does a great "fake" smile! I'd give you a for real smile anytime for that quilt!
Thanks Mossie!! :D :D How neat we're doing the same quilt!! I can't wait to see your's!!! How big are you making it? The one I made for Christie, and the one I'm making for myself are more couch size. I bet it'd really be beautiful bigger!
My DIL wants the one kind of like a 4 patch, with appliqued flowers/leaves in the wide border part.... So I need to get the magazine for that pattern. |
Thanks Sandpat!!! :D
Yeah, I hate the thought of Winter coming too. Am wishing Fall could just last until Spring..... lol!!! |
Hi, Diana,
The one I'm making is the one in the magazine that has 42 blocks. It's pretty big. I have no clue how to post a picture on here. Is there a tutorial somewhere? I'm seriously computer challenged. If you or anyone can help me, I'd be eternally grateful because I have several quilts I'd love to show everyone. |
Hi Mossie!
I can't wait to see pictures of your quilt!!! Can you post an 'in progress' picture? :D Just down from where you post your message is an 'attach files' button. Locate where your pictures are in your computer. You can post up to 3 in one posting. Under each picture will be another 'post files' button, to add additional ones. BUT - don't hit 'preview' after adding your photos or they won't stay attached! I believe you have up to 20 minutes after posting to 'edit' your posting if you want to. I hope this helps, as I want to see all your quilts!! :D :D |
I can see by the look on her face that she loves it and was surprised, what a beautifull gift to recieve. BTW my birthday is in May! nudge, nudge, wink, wink. Lots of time to work on it...LOL
Thanks, Diana. I printed out the directions. Give me a little time and I'll do it.
Thanks Daisyboo9!! Ha. I have 20 kids & grandkids already, not even half done so far! lol!!!!
I'll be looking for them, Mossie!! |
I was gazing at your Scattered Leaves quilt again (and drooling!) and I wonder is it applique leaves or a traditional patchwork maple leaf? I havent had time to check out mag article.but I will and then I want to make two or three of these beautiful quilts. I have been day dreamng of them since I saw yours! Too beautiful...
Hi, I was just day dreaming of making a Scattered Leaves quilt for me and I have not seen the mag for it yet so I wondered Is it an applique leaf or a traditional piece work maple leaf block that you start with??!!! I love fall colors and this quilt is sooo beautiful
Thank you so much, Betlinsmom!! :D
The leaves are pieced, and go together pretty fast! Post some pictures when you get started on your's!!! :D :D |
THANKS!! I will...just as soon as I figure out how to post them!!
Betlinsmom - just scroll up a bit - where I explained the how to for Mossie!! And then post away! :D :D
Hi!! I have the pattern for maple leaves quilt block and it is 12in square. That seeems big for your scattered leaves quilt block before adding the log cabin logs... What size were your blocks beforethe logs? I have not found the mag you referenced... thanks
Can you please tell me what size your scattered leaves quilt block was BEFORE you added the logs? I have the pattern for maple leaves but iti is 12 in square and that seems a bit big. I have not found the quilt mag you sugested... Thanks
Gosh I just reread my postings and it seems I have senior moments even on my computer!!! Sorrry, and thanks for patiently helping me!!
Hi Betlinsmom, the leaves part of the block was 5 inches. Mine were all 4 3/4" - after I trimmed my uneven edges.... lol!!!!!!!
:D |
Wow!! that is tiny!! I think I will go with a slightly bigger block since my bed is huge and I am impatient!! tee hee I will post some pics of my quilts soon. Thank you sooo much for sharing your beautiful quilts!!
