I just made this for my step-daughter Christie's 30th birthday. It was on the cover of October's American Patchwork & Quilting. This is one I was wishing I kept for myself! lol!!!

And my next birthday quilt isn't due until the end of October... :D I'm excited about making one just for fun now! :D

Well if she don't like it, I would be happy to give you a real smile for it!
It is beautiful.

I bet she was thrilled to receive this beautiful quilt! She's the right age to really appreciate it, too.

Can't wait to see the next b-day quilt and the one in between!

Thank you, Elaine and Leslie!! :D

Ducky 09-13-2009 04:12 PM

Diana, did you use scraps? I just love how you put the colors. I gotta know, though....hand quilting or machine????? (I still want to hand quilt when I grow up. Until then, I'll just machine quilt. )

MollieSue 09-13-2009 04:25 PM

Thanks, Ducky! Yeap, all scraps/stash except for the border/backing, batting.
And definitely machine quilted! lol!!! I totally admire (stand in awe of actually!) those who hand quilt, but I don't think I'd have the patience for it. I always want them done yesterday. lol!!! And we have 20 kids/grandkids, so would almost be impossible now anyways! Maybe after I get each of their 'birthday quilts' done, I'll give it a try!

Diana -

We saw that cover and bought the magazine to put in our "someday" stack. Your quilt looks great and the colors are awesome. I can't wait to do one of those - I hope ours turns out as good as yours.

MollieSue 09-14-2009 04:39 AM

Thank you soooo much, all of you!!!! :D :D

The border/backing was from Walmart, and I bought the last of what the store nearest me had. It's one of those they don't reorder. And used all but 3" on Christie's quilt. But found some more at another Walmart store, for me this time! :D

And Karla, Darren, and Minstrel - you'd be surprised how totally easy, fast, and FUN this is to make!

pocoellie 09-14-2009 04:50 AM
