I am trying to get my scraps used up, they are getting a tad bit overwhelming... LOL

Here is one top ready for quilting. It's called Strip Twist and the pattern is from quiltville.com. It was a fun one to put together. :)

That's pretty cool. I haven't heard of that link you mentioned either.

I knew I'd like it here seeing all your beautiful works and picking up on other places I didn't know about.

That pattern made me blink at first. It's a really cool illusion. Very nice way to use up those great autumn fabs!

MAXIES2 04-02-2008 01:48 PM

The colours are lovely, I do like Autumn shades. How big is the quilt Shadow ? I am looking for a pattern for a lap quilt for a friends 60th birthday, its not till later in the year so I will have plenty of time to complete it, but I keep changing my mind on which pattern to do, I dont want anything too complicated in case I get bored with it or make a mistake, I do like making scrap quilts and have made one off that site before so this one maybe the one.

OMG Shadow!!! It's just gorgeous!!! You always do such brilliant work!!! I'm so proud to know you!! :D

Pam Pollock 04-02-2008 02:03 PM

Beautiful!!! Love the border material you chose. I love the pattern too & made a copy awhile back for myself. Great job (as usual ) Shadow!! Thanks for sharing!

Cordelia 04-02-2008 02:13 PM

I just went to her site and LOVE all the stuff she's done. How in the world can someone make so many quilts?

My favorites were the Hidden Pinwheels, Hidden Spools, Jared Takes a Wife and the String Quilting Primer.

But, this is the AWESOME of AWESOME at her site:

http://www.quiltville.com/dearjaneatsea.shtml

It's in her projects in progress or standstill links.

I would attempt that, but think I would get bored with it half way through.

Shadow Dancer 04-02-2008 02:19 PM

Katherine, the blocks are 14 1/2 inches approximately, and the pattern called for 12 blocks for a lap quilt, 2 inch (finished 1 1/2 inch) inner border and a 5 inch (finished 4 1/2 inch) outer border.

I didn't have enough of those particular scraps to make 12 blocks, so mine is 9 blocks with the same borders as the pattern calls for.

Thank you for the lovely compliments. :) I'm on to the next scrap busting quilt tomorrow.... :)

MAXIES2 04-02-2008 02:31 PM

Thanks Shadow, I have done the string quilting primer pattern on her site which was easy but very effective, I used a bright blue through the centre to pull all the pattern together, which one have you got your eye on to do next?

Beautiful and I love the Autumn colors!

Shadow Dancer 04-02-2008 02:41 PM

I might make this one again using odd strips, but I am going to make String X next and use up as many scraps as I can...they sure do get out of hand after awhile... :)

Mamagus 04-02-2008 03:06 PM

SD! Gorgeous! I am a huge fan of Bonnie's site. Aren't her quilts awesome? Yours turned out so pretty! And with scraps! You could make a trash bag look good! LOL! I'm doing quiltville's mystery quilt. It's been mentioned on this board, but here's the link again: http://quiltville.com/orangecrush1.shtml

Shadow, that is really pretty, I love your choices of color for this one. I think I have the border fabric...so might pair it with some more autumn colors and find a pattern I like as well as this one you did!

jacquemoe 04-03-2008 03:22 PM

You amaze me. All your quilts look so darned perfect and your color choices, I just love. AND, how the heck do you do so fast? Took me 2 just just to cut my quilt top.

patricej 04-03-2008 04:00 PM

another amazing top. it's so precise it doesn't look real. now that's what i call impressive piecing!!! (i don't have a thumbs up thingie, so you'll have to imagine a string of about a dozen of them here.) :P :P :P

BDor 04-03-2008 05:53 PM

Shadow,
You just keep amazing me! How do you get so much quilting done and keep up with all that is going on on this board like you do. You are superwoman--I want to see your cape!!! I stand in awe.
