Scrap cutting
1 Attachment(s)
I have been cutting down scraps off and on for two weeks and no sewing. Pictured is one of my trash bags as I cut down the scraps from the last three years. I have stripped, squared, rectangled and tumblered - the last two terms are made up quilter words. Will post more pics of my cut-downs when finished with the last two boxes.

That is going to be my winter project my basket has overflowed big time!!!

Even your throwaways are pretty together. ;-)

It's so difficult to resist starting to sew some of those scraps after (or as) they are being cut. I've been using DIL's AccuQuilt cutter for the last two weeks. Strips, squares, and triangles of all different sizes! It will be nice when they are all cut up, won't it?

Way to go. I need to do the same. I think it will make it easier to use up those beautiful scraps.

OMG - I did not even realize that those weren't real words until you mentioned it - LOL - Makes perfect sense to me.

hahahaha... I love your "made up quilter words". Good luck with your "scrapies". I love making scrapes but I don't like organising my scraps. I always have good intentions of sorting my scraps as I go, but it never seems to last long. :(

After a stormy week organizing scraps a few years back, I try to trim the scraps as I go. While I should do more, I have a container for 2.5" squares right by my sewing machine.
|
I keep a wash basin from a trip to a hospital on my cutting table for scraps. When it overflows I spend an hour or so cutting them into usable pieces and store them in plastic bins with lids. Much easier...
|
I cut my scraps after each project to keep on top of them, just finished a scrappy top with my 2.5" squares and strips. going to border it today. they do make pretty scrappy quilts.
