Good job! Nice blocks and top from your scraps. I thought I would post a picture of my scrap organizing system also.

I saw your thread a few days ago and love the idea of the organization process. I almost started going through my scraps and sorting them... but I saved it for another day. I love the log cabin quilt. Looks great. Congrats on your progress.

Very nice.

Do you hire out to organize others' scraps? Hehe. Well done.

When I was new to quilting, a couple of guild sisters gave me bags of their scraps. I thought it amazing that they could part with such lovely fabric. After over 500 quilts, I understand. I have got to do more scrappies as well as more organizing.

You did marvelous! Unfortunately, my scraps are taking over my sewing room. I have to get busy. Love the log cabin.

You and your quilt are an inspiration! It's beautiful! Thanks for sharing!

Fabulous! You log cabin is just marvelous! Doesn't it feel good to get some use out of your scraps! :)
I organized mine last summer. I have them in small fabric bins (the square collapsible ones like you get at Target). Then I ironed each piece and cut them into 2 1/2 inch strips or strings. I made one string quilt (that is just marvelous...it's in my quilt-soon pile!). I have plans for another string using the blues. I also did a 'Road to California' block with a ton of the 2 1/2 squares. And I've been collecting 'jelly-roll' friendly patterns to use the 2 1/2 inch strips with. I'm trying to finish some UFO's before starting that project! :) |
