I was trying to decide what I wanted to do next as I just finished a round the world quilt as you go for my husbands chair. This will be my next project. Have lots of scraps. What size blocks did you make? Love it

Pattern is at www.quiltville.com its called Patches and Pinwheels.

Harriet, I love your Patches and Pinwheels. I made mine last spring and we slept under it all winter, and it's still one of my favorite quilts ever. A little closeup is my avatar.

I controlled the scraps a bit when I made mine. I used mostly black prints and white prints to make the pinwheels and lots of dots. I used all other colors in the 16-patch blocks. And I had sooooo many 4-patches left that I used them for one of the borders.

Your quilt is stunning. The beauty of giving a scrap quilt is that you know it's got all colors in it! It's got to match something in the room.
p.s. I also love the orange quilt on the design wall, peeking out in the photo of your backing. Please post pix of that one too!

It looks like you have put alot in it, it is beautiful. She will love it.

Annz 08-23-2010 04:54 PM

Very nice.

I love it. I don't know how you all can do a pattern on the back and make it come out square. It seems after my quilts are quilted the backing fabric is shorter on one end or another and they didn't start out that way. I love the scrappy quilts.

Your quilt is beautiful. Are they 8 inch pinwheels and then 8 inch blocks beside them? Overall effect is just wonderful. Great job.

hcarpanini 08-25-2010 11:40 AM

Pattern is Patches and Pinwheels at www.quiltville.com
You can make them any size.

julybaby8 08-25-2010 11:43 AM

katiebear1 08-25-2010 01:55 PM

OH, I just LOVE it and the blocks are easy A 16 patch and a pinwheel. But what size were the squares for the patch and what size were the HST for the pinwheels. I LOVE scrappy quilts. Yours is georgus SP? I want to try it with Batiks. I get SOOO much inspiration from this site!

katiebear1 08-25-2010 02:00 PM

Just finished reading the whole thread. I see where you mentioned where you got the pattern. I go to her site all the time and that quilt never stood out for me, but yours sure did! You have a great eye for color.

coachmatthewsvhs 12-16-2013 06:13 PM

fantastic....some day I will learn to figure out squares, triangles sizing so I can mix and match! Love it

ManiacQuilter2 12-16-2013 06:16 PM

It is really nice to see a traditional pattern done scrappy with excellent fabrics. GOOD JOB !!!

debcavan 12-16-2013 09:10 PM

That is a cool design for a scrappy.

zozee 12-16-2013 09:59 PM

Very well done. Such movement and energy in that pattern and the colors. But I can't imagine it's "mindless" work. I just did a scrappy table runner and had to concentrate to keep the contrast there. And it was a long runner .

QM 12-16-2013 10:32 PM

Excellent job!
