I decided to finish the border with the leftover squares that I already had put together. I will put a black binding on it. It is going to my niece who has 3 kids, so I don't want to put to much into it.
sample of black binding the back (yeah, more scraps used!) |
Love it!

Wow, that is beautiful. I love the squares you put between. Are they pinwheels?
|
So it is the white that is consistant in the pinwheels that makes it look so good? I have some scraps I want to get rid of - but can't seem to find anything I like enough. I think becuase I want my "scrappy" to be controlled :) Was there anything else that you kept consistant?
|
It's fantastic!!! I really love scrappy quilts.

Looks great to me. I love scrappy. Kids can really be hard on quilts, but it does my heart good to see that it is really loved. I have given many quilts to my nieces and nephews, and have repaired said quilts, and now that they are all (but one) graduated from school they received graduation quilts that I put a lot of time and effort into. They should last them until they get married, and hope fully much, much longer. Then they will get a wedding quilt. I only have 8 of them to make for.

It's beautiful. I love the 12 patches. Could you tell me how each 12 patch is. Thanks.

I love them. I have a lot of scraps and you are inspiring me to do one.

What a nice job you did on this one. I love scrappy quilts and really like the 2 blocks you used in this one, very pleasing to the eye when you look at it. Hope your sister knows how lucky she is. :)

You're work is beautiful, and I like the final border, it adds to the quilt nicely!

If you have a really hard time with that idea, try putting some assorted light squares, maybe 2" or 2 1/2" in one small paper bag and assorted mediums and darks in another. Whatever comes out is what you sew together. You'll be surprised how great it will look! Practice on a dolls quilt or something until you're ready to really cut loose LOL. Hope you have fun! Harriet that's a stunning quilt. You're inspiring me to start cutting my scraps into squares. What size did you use for the 16 patch blocks? Thanks for the picture! |
It is beautiful. I am finding that scrappy quilts take more thought than coordinated quilts. Very nice!
|
ooooooo......Great job!!!

Thanks for the picture!
The squares are 2 1/2" strips, put 4 together and sub cut into 2 1/2" strips. and the half squares are 4 1/2" strips cut with the Omnigrid 96 ruler. Pattern is Patches and Pinwheels at quiltville.com |

Thanks for the picture! Thanks, Harriet! I'm a Bonnie fan, too, but didn't really fall for this quilt until I saw yours. Thanks a bunch! |
