Scrappy Celtic Solstice top finished!

I have been all consumed making this quilt top since Bonnie Hunter released the first clue on Thanksgiving! I set myself a goal of having each clue finished before the next was released which was tough over Christmas but I did it! I used all fabrics from stash (apart from the final turquoise borders as I didn't have enough left) It's 93" square, has approximately 3200 pieces and over 125 different fabrics and I have to say I am rather proud of it!

Beautiful result! 125 different fabrics? I am impressed. Lots of work, no doudts. Bravo!

sahansen44 01-21-2014 02:42 AM

Wow.. That is probably the best scrappy I have seen. Your colors are phenominal. Very, very nice work.

Izy 01-21-2014 02:43 AM

Thanks helou, it was a LOT of work - especially all the cutting out as no piece is was bigger than 3" to start with! I cut a little, stitched and trimmed a few at a time so you could actually see some progress at each session! :)

Oh Wow! Such praise, thank you! it was a mystery so I had no way of knowing what would be the dominant colours, so it was luck more than ability! ;)

You should be very proud of it. It is a work of art - the colors are exciting and the design is lovely. Your points and corners of the blocks are so beautifully done - yes, you should be very proud indeed!

Thank you for all the wonderful compliments! I tried my hardest to make sure every thing matched up but those chevrons were little beggars to line up, so I focussed on lining up the centre point as that was more obvious that the point in the seams, 'next' time, I will strip piece and cut on the 45 deg. as I am sure it will be easier with less waste that adding squares, stitching and trimming! I have saved all the offcuts and I am making mini hour glass blocks that finish at 1 and 1/4"..so tiny but very cute! :)

Kathy T. 01-21-2014 07:42 AM

You certainly have a right to be proud - that quilt and those fabrics really sparkle! I love it ...

quiltin-nannie 01-21-2014 07:42 AM

Sneed 01-21-2014 07:47 AM

I love seeing the various scrappies and yours has turned out beautiful.

Murphy1 01-21-2014 07:48 AM

I love how it went together. I am amazed that it is all scraps. The blue and purple really pull it together. You inspire me to get cracked and see if I can use up the ever growing pile of scraps at my house.

notmorecraft 01-21-2014 08:36 AM

Beautiful quilt

kplumbridge 01-21-2014 08:42 AM

Wow! that looks great! I'm not anywhere close to being done on mine - thanks for the inspiration to keep going.
