Oooooooo--I LOVE your log cabin. Beautiful!!

Thus far I haven't been really crazy about log cabins but I love how you did your light/dark blocks. That looks fabulous! I'm actually thinking I may need to make something like that in the near future. Great job on both!

Beautiful! I love that Oklahoma Twister, I've never seen that before. It's going on my to-do list!
|
I like both of them.

Wonderful! Could you share how you did your log cabin? Size strips, squares, and did you chain piece? I want to do a log cabin, but find making one block is time consuming. Both your quilts are stunning!

They look great. Excellent balance with the scraps!
|
I agree:):)

granny216, Your quilts are very nice! I really like both of them. I have never heard of or seen the Oklahoma Twister quilt before.
Thanks Eddie for sharing the link to this pattern. It looks like I could handle doing this one. I am thinking of doing the oktwister for my sister. She loves the Wizard of Oz. I have been collecting pieces of this line of fabric for her and wondered what pattern to use for her quilt. I have been searching for a pattern that resembled a twister. Perfect, I think this will be it. Thanks again granny 216, for showing your quilts and inspiring this idea for me. DeeDee |

My avatar is a log cabin also. I love them and need to make a lot more of them. |
Thanks for all the wonderful compliments. I love scrap quilts and I really don't use a pattern. I will check the size of the strips. I just kept the center square the same color and I find if you use more narrow strips the look is better for me. Checked and they were cut 1 1/2 inches. My first one was made with those 3" strips and it needed something so before I gave it to my daughter-in-law and husband I appliqued a large duck to the side and about 1 1/2 feet from the bottom because it looked so undone to me. That really added another dimension.
I just cut light and other strips plus scraps. The Oklahoma Twister was made because a friend in New Mexico asked me to draft up the pattern for it as she had see it in one of the local papers and loved it and sent me a clipping of it. She did it in blue and white and won a ribbon for it and I have all these 30's to 60 fabrics and decided on scrap. It does take time and keeping to the pattern. |
