I love the string quilt with the black diamond centers. Did you applique the black center onto the finished block?

Please refer to member name and/or post number when replying. :) We all would like to know what quilt you are responding too so we can oh and awe also. :)

Kat, if you mean the one by meemersmom in post #158, that's one I have been admiring, too. I think she said (or possibly I deduced) that the string blocks are made and then assembled with black squares using the 10-minute block method.

Is there a way to navigate this forum by the post number? For example, I wanted to take a look at the quilt y'all are taking about in post # 158, is there a quicker way to find it than by hopscotching back through the pages?

And now that I've taken a look at that quilt, I recognize the quilt block. It's a paper-pieced block from Quilter's Cache called "Michigan."

I have a few more scrappy quilts to add to this thread. I piece quite a few of my quilts with a treadle sewing machine, they are quiet and I can sew after everyone has gone to bed and no motor to make noise.
The first quilt is Cartwheels from Moda Bake Shop, #2 is Smokey Mountain Stars a free Bonnie K. Hunter pattern, #3 is Star of Destiny by Donna Lynn Thomas(it won honorable mention at my guild's show this year). #4 is a Log Cabin also entered in this year's guild show, it didn't win any ribbons; however the quilt judge was just amazed at the variety of fabrics, over 200. All but the #3 are charity quilts, for either in-need kids or wounded soldiers.

Are you referring to this one by Lsew2212? If so, yes, it's very pretty.

It's strip/string pieced starting with a black strip in the center diagonally and adding various colored strips on each side, building out the square to whatever size you've chosen. Hope that helps - - -
