Some of you were talking (Main) about liking (or not liking) scrappy quilts. And I thought we should have our own Show.
If you have a scrappy quilt ~ controlled or not please share! Here are the ones that I have made over the years and have only put a very small dent in my scrap pile   Show us your scrappy From Quiltville - Strip Twist D9P w/heart Donation quilt Quiltville - Happy Scrappy Houses Stack the Deck Donation to Womans Space |

Here is one I made using dryer sheets as a foundation for the string squares. I had a lot of fun doing this- probably because there was no pressure by not using a pattern.
|
I love scrappy quilts but have a problem with letting go and just put it together. I have to keep control.
|
Grammy Dwynn, I love that strip twist!! On my to-do list now

Here is mine, made for my sister for Christmas last year, however it has became her husband's quilt. Maybe I should make him one of his own.
And this one I made for my sunflower sunporch |

This was actually the first quilt I ever made. For months, I bought quarter yards of small print fabrics, any time I was near a fabric shop. (I honestly did not have a stash at the time!!). The top sat for 6 years, unquilted because I discovered a glaring flaw almost in the middle and did not know what to do to fix it. Finally, I openned some seams, moved a few things around and now, am very happy with My First Quilt!
The second one started as a few blocks because I wanted to try a Log Cabin (plus I needed something to do with the 'stash' I had acquired to make my FIRST quilt!!). I decided to make a lap quilt...which quickly changed into a twin bed quilt...which grew to fit a queen. And when it got to that point, I decided that I liked it so much that I would love to make it a king size to fit our bed, but could not find any more of the two fabrics that outline each block. (Sigh). And so it remains--Just a Queen! My First Quilt The Log Cabin that just 'growed and growed'! |
What alovely bunch of scrap quilts, you're giving me so many ideas.
Grammy Dwynn, thanks a lot for the tip on using the sack method. |
I have done hundreds of scrappy quilts - mostly for Linus. They are my very favorites to make - extremly colorful.

Thinblebug6000, your second picture, with the interupted white diamonds is absolutely stunning and I really hope you don't mind if I try something similar. I have a whole pile of 2 inch squares that are crying for a pattern just like that!
Everyone--thanks for so many more ideas! I never knew scrappy quilts could be so stunning! |

Here are just a few of mine.
The purple one is truly a scrappy as it was made from a friends scrap bag. The second one I called "Licorice Allsort Stars". The third one was for a friends dog. I had so much fun making this one. The fourth is one I made for myself. These show my love of color in my quilts. |
Gorgeous quilts!

GingerK, please tell me the name of the pattern for your "first quilt"? I love it. Thanks
