I started this a few weeks ago.. trying to use up my bits and pieces of scraps.. I managed to use up every last none, and then had to cut into some fat quarters for the last row.. I have no idea for backing fabric, because I have nothing that is large enough, or struck my fancy.. But in time it might jump out at me when I am least expecting it.

oooh, very pretty. You know, if you send it my way, I'm sure I could find a backing fabric for it. Tee hee.

So pretty! Love scrappy quilts!

oksewglad 08-06-2010 08:26 PM

I really like the rhythm of the white (or light squares) running diagonally. Nicely done.

aneternalpoet 08-06-2010 08:28 PM

hey oksewglad - the light fabric was a cream tone on tone sort of color.. And the inner border was just some long strips I had in a basket from a binding.. it was a little darker with speckles or something.. I am glad this one is done, though.. lots of cutting, and my eyes grew heavy with so many different scraps, lol.

mrspete 08-06-2010 08:30 PM

Thank you for sharing, it is so professional and neat.

Blessings, Ruth

aneternalpoet 08-06-2010 08:32 PM

Mrs Pete.. so not professional, lol.. every 5 inch block has at least one crooked seam.. I am not all that good at sewing a seam straight yet, but I love trying.. thats all that counts! Thank you though for encouraging me!!

gcathie 08-06-2010 08:35 PM

Beautiful!!!
Do you have some 12x12 or so pieces you could put together, or fat quarters. Your back could be scrappy too!

wvdek 08-06-2010 09:28 PM

Scrap happy quilt.

KiwiQuilter 08-06-2010 09:34 PM

I love Quiltville. I have been doing "Leader and Ender" quilts now for about 4 years. I can't wait to get her book!

I was going to start on her Scrappy Houses, but now that I've seen your quilt, I might change my mind.

Wonderful quilt!!!

aneternalpoet 08-07-2010 02:44 AM

OKsewglad.. the squares ended up being 5 inches when evened out.. each little section was cut at 2 1/2 I think... the free pattern was at www.quiltville.com ..called fun with bricks if you want the pattern.

aneternalpoet 08-07-2010 02:46 AM

Jims Gem, thought about doing that as well, but thought it might be too busy if I did a back of many colors, lol.. just not sure.. but might be doing it that way, since it is larger than I planned on. so we will see..

JenniePenny 08-07-2010 02:55 AM

Awesome quilt! I love scrappy quilts too! It's VERY Pretty.

WANNABEE 08-07-2010 03:45 AM

Beautiful quilt. I love the light diagonals.

tdgiffin 08-07-2010 03:48 AM

I like the addition of the white. It breaks up the pattern a little bit, and you notice the colors more. I am making a mental note of this!

peaceandjoy 08-07-2010 03:51 AM

Very nice! I'm another scrappy lover; yours is beautiful. Thank you for sharing.

katier825 08-07-2010 03:55 AM

LOVE TRYING - That's the right idea!!!! It's all a learning process...better enjoy each step.

It looks great from here -
Have you thought of taking larger pieces of fabric - even FQ and sew them together and make a scrappy back. Use what you have!

Karen, You are no longer a "quilter in the making." You have arrived! I love this quilt top. Those diagonal rows of white really make this quilt look fabulous.

Numa 08-07-2010 04:52 AM

brushandthimble 08-07-2010 04:55 AM

scrappy quilt, make a scrappy back. I like to use leftover bindings on my scrappy quilts; keeps to the scrappy theme.

aneternalpoet 08-07-2010 04:57 AM

Really like the light colored squares set on the diagonal - makes the darker squares stand out,

Has a nice rhythm to it.

Pineapple Princess 08-07-2010 03:44 PM
