Scrappy, Shabby Braid quilt and others

4 Attachment(s)
I have been using up my mountains of scraps. No body knows how many scrappies I will get out 20+ years of quilting.

I used 2.5" x 7.5" strips and a 2.5" square for the center. The sashing is .75" wide.

And here is the backing

a Traditional Log Cabin

and a Clam Shell Log Cabin

There are still several quilts to be dug out of my mountain of scraps.

Happy with what I have done so far.
peace

I should have mentioned at the top of the post that I have you to thank for the Clam Shell Log Cabin pattern. I could not find any patterns for this on line and I searched a long time. You should post your pictures again. It is such a lovely quilt. It has been on my mind since you sent it to me and I am finally acting on it.

Thank you so much.

The design wall did come from a fabric store that closed many years ago. Half the store was quilting the other for dressmaking. These boards held bridal lace samples.

phranny 02-16-2017 12:16 PM

Your first one would be my favorite, but they are all beautiful! Can't stop looking at it

QUILTNMO 02-16-2017 12:19 PM

Awesome job ube! The braid, is it made with rectangles that are cut down after they are sewn into place?

Sync 02-16-2017 01:21 PM

Beautiful scrappy quilts. Love the scrappy braid, its light and ready for spring.

alaskasunshine 02-16-2017 01:35 PM

Anna, Yes it is trimmed after the strip is completed.

grannie cheechee 02-16-2017 01:44 PM

WOW!!! I don't know how you did so many.

Great use of scraps! What did you use to make your design walls? looks like the move and you have several, very interesting.

peaceandjoy 02-16-2017 03:42 PM

Your quilts are lovely. Scrap quilts are my favorite! I particularly like your braid - I've never seen one done in softer shades as you have used, and the center square is just perfect for it.

EasyPeezy 02-16-2017 03:55 PM

Beautiful. I specially like your Shabby Braid.

costumegirl 02-16-2017 04:15 PM

oksewglad 02-16-2017 04:44 PM

Although I'm not a fan of orange, that square really sets the stage for the braid scraps...lovely and delightful. Great design wall...a lucky score for you...thanks for sharing your lovely quilts.

fred singer 02-16-2017 05:42 PM

very lovely quilts

tuckyquilter 02-16-2017 06:07 PM

WHOA - BACK UP. Is your DESIGN WALL actually several "design walls" on hinges?? If so you must show us how they are hung etc. I am extremely interested in having more than one Design Wall at one time and this might be the way to go. Please share your method.

Sandra in Minnesota 02-16-2017 06:43 PM

You work very well with colors - lovely quilts.

sewbizgirl 02-16-2017 06:49 PM

What gorgeous scrappies! My favorite is the clamshell... so beautiful! Good work.

quiltingshorttimer 02-16-2017 07:19 PM

love all 3--I really like the French braid--the background makes the orange really glow. And loving your design wall! My eyes are turning green!
