I could really use this. My cat loves to eat electric wires and I just had to replace my whole keyboard and the modem cord to my computer. I hate having the door closed all the time.

How about a french door?

I think it's a wonderful idea.

Our cats climb up our screen doors and leave holes from their claws. But we love them :)

I get the same strange looks as I too have a screen door on my studio. Keeps the four legged kids out when I am working. Hey it works and they don't sit outside the door and MEOW!!! Have a bench on the side wall, outside the door, that they can sit on and watch the fun.

Oh my gosh... that is an awesome idea. Thank you for posting it.

Who cares what other people think. It's your house and if it keeps the babies safe that is all that matters.

I went with the water bottle, but whatever works for you!

Looks perfectly normal to me. Besides, it's your house to do whatever you want in it.

I have a permanently installed swinging baby gate to keep my "babies" (two Brittany dogs) in the back section of the house. When people comment on the gate, I just smile and say, "I know, what a good idea, huh?!" Even though I know what they really mean is, "This is sort of strange."

I like it!! It's a great idea!
