Blu, my cat, likes to jump on my ironing board when I am ironing. He also likes to bully the other furrykids when they are in the room with me. So, for safety sake, and sometimes for my own sanity, I have a screen door in my hallway. People may look at me weird, but who cares - safety and sanity first.

It's what works for you that counts. Sometimes it takes a little trick or two to keep them out of trouble.

Wow!! That's a GREAT idea! I have the opposite problem. I need to figure out a way to allow my 23 pound kitty in to the basement but keep the 5 pound dog OUT.

For the cat/dog problem. We solved it by DH making a half door, sometimes called a Dutch door, out of pegboard. The doggie can look through the holes and see me. The cat jumps over the sill and can come in the room. If making one from scratch sounds too intimidating, cut a hollow door in half and place a shelf on top for kitty to perch. It would already be prepared for the hinges. It really works for us.

Miss Teddi would be found hanging by her claws on that screendoor :-)

Which reminds me - I need to re-screen the patio door AGAIN!

Looks good to me! I have also heard of people exchanging their babies/kids regular room doors with a screen door to keep the pets out while kids were sleeping & then parents could still hear kids.

Blu cries, "MAAAAA"! So, I go out and give him some hugs :) - If I am not ironing or pinning, he sleeps on his window sill bed in the quilting room.

Great idea to keep the 12 grands out while you are trying secretly to make something for them.

I think that's a terrific idea  I'll have to show DH this and see what he think about one for my sewing room. Don't mind my little chi in, but don't want the cats around all the fabric!!!
