Seascapes done

I finally got this queen size finished for Mom and Dad's beach house. Too many other projects going on and when your sewing machine decides to be finicky... you know how it is. Fell in love with this fabric when I first saw it. At the half-way point, they coincidentally decided to paint their room a teal that could not have been more perfect. And they love the quilt! Hooray!

It goes perfect in the room you have it pictured in. Very Beachy. I love all those aquas and teals. It looks nice and cool and airy on this hot muggy day.

I have a layer cake of "Seascapes" that hasn't spoken to me yet... is that (layer cake) by any chance, what you
used? The quilt is gorgeous!!

Yes. All I did was cut them in half and add 2 1/2 inch strips in between. Easy piecing. Layout was a game to keep any two matches from getting next to each other. I think I had 3 yards of the border fabric to get to the 91 inch width x 102 length.

SemiSweet 07-05-2013 05:21 AM

Pretty. And I like those colors.

Is this a pattern from one of the websites that is free? It looks so simple, but so pretty!

What are the measurements of those pretty rectangles?

Layer cakes are 10" square precuts. So by halving them, I had 80 blocks 5"x 10" before any sewing. To offset every other row, I started the odd rows with a half- or 5" square- and ended with a half on the even rows. That gave me the brick laying effect. Inner border was 2.5 inches, outer border was about 11" trimmed down to 9.5" after quilting. Could have had a few more inches in width for a bedspread.

Lovely quilt - I love those colours.

Your quilting is lovely - not over done. Some quilts looked like they are "scribbled" on when finished.

You have inspired me. I have that fabric but couldn't decide what to do this it. Mine will also go in a beachy type bedroom. Another use for fabric I've already bought. Thanks.
