Hello all,
So if you remember me, I just posted my very first wall hanging here. And on Sunday I started working on a second wall hanging, and guess what, I finished the top today. It is from Carol Doak, Ribbons. I went all girly with it, pink colors. I could not get some of the darn points to match, but what the heck, I still love it, it is my second baby! :)

Getting ready for Valentine's Day? I love all the shades of pink that you used. And love the pattern.

Izy 01-13-2009 02:15 PM

Well I see the addiction to quilting has hit hard already Candi...lovely your quilt, the colours are cute, and as for unmatched points... well blow me down with a feather....maybe one or two slightly off, but for your second attempt it's marvellous :D :D :D

Izy 01-13-2009 02:16 PM

BTW where is your Avatar picture taken? Its looks very European to me???? :D

Joan 01-13-2009 02:17 PM

Thanks beachlady and Izy.

candi 01-13-2009 03:35 PM

Thanks all for all the kind words.
I have a question, I am not going to be quilting this for a while, maybe 3-6 months, how should I store the top, should I baste my layars or not?

Again thanks for you kindness and help,
Candi

Chele 01-13-2009 05:00 PM

It's lovely! I can't believe that is is only your second top! You are obviously good at this! Make more!

QuiltinLee 01-13-2009 05:59 PM

Very pretty, Candi. You need to give yourself a big pat on the back.

As far as storing your top until you're ready to quilt it, well, I just fold mine up and when I'm ready to quilt it, I give it a good hit with the iron and steam the wrinkles out then I pin or spray it. However, I'd like to hear other opinions, too.

Jim's Gem 01-13-2009 06:04 PM

I currently have a couple of unoccupied beds in my house so my quilt tops and also "sandwiched waiting to be quilted" ones end up there. Also, I have a treadmill in my family room (sewing room) and it makes a great quilt hanger. Seems that's the only thing it's used for these days!!! ( I had to clear off my son's bed for when he visited over Christmas)

retrogirl02 01-13-2009 06:05 PM

That's so pretty! Love your colors, too!

gigi2landon 01-13-2009 07:35 PM

It's pretty in pink! Great Job

Marcia 01-13-2009 07:40 PM

Great job, Candi!! I love the pinks you picked---you are hooked on quilting now!!!

jbsstrawberry 01-13-2009 08:21 PM

Very pretty in pink!! Wonderful job!!

Deb G 01-13-2009 08:40 PM

Love the colors of pink that you used. Your points look great, you'd never know it's only your 2nd quilt.

I do the same as QuiltinLee with my finished tops. Easier to store that way and they don't take up much space.

candi 01-13-2009 08:47 PM

Thanks all. Your words are very encouraging, makes me want to quilt more!!!!! :D

SulaBug 01-13-2009 11:59 PM

It's absolutly beautiful. I just love the colors you chose. For you second top ever, you have done a great job.

Quilt4u 01-14-2009 02:24 AM

Very nice. You did a great job.

quiltwoman 01-14-2009 03:32 AM

Way to go! I love the pinks. :D

sandpat 01-14-2009 05:13 AM

I love it! You are well on your way to becoming another "addicted to quilting"!!! Congrats!

mamatobugboo 01-14-2009 06:10 AM

incredible job, especially for your 2nd one ever! That's a lot of detailed piecing you tackled!

I usually just fold up my tops, but fold so the seams are hidden and the tops shows, that protects the seams from too much stress.

Great job

Easy? I don't know, not super hard though. I had to cut 36 half square triangles from four different fabrics, 9 squares, Then made the same block nine times, rotated my blocks to look like ribbons. I did finish it in 3 days only, and I am a very beginner, so I guess, it is kind of easy.
It is called Ribbons by Carol Doak, I don't know if she has as a free patterns, but I got it in her book Your First Quilt Book or it should Be. Maybe you can find it on your library, or if you like to PM your address, I can send you a copy :-)

Thanks all for the encouraging words.
This site is great and you quilters are wonderful. Glad I found ya :-)

JCL in FL 01-17-2009 02:04 PM

Really nice and you choose the colors so well. that's the hardest part for me. It's strange too how sometimes the color you liked the least and wondered if it would go is the one that makes the quilt.

Evelynquilts 01-17-2009 06:38 PM

very pretty... :D
