I enjoyed seeing your selvage quilt. You could play i-spy with the many colors and patterns. I especially like the selvage binding!

I use my selvages for tying things. Most recently I used some to tie up my staked tomatoe plants.

How did you finish the sides?

Love it. Love it. Love it. I usually cut off just the selvedge because I want ALL of my fabric. :) Some people want like 2" of fabric when they ask for the selvedge. Just love the knots ... first thing I thought of was a road for match box cars. :)

Love your quilt and the thought of "tying the knot". I have to admit my first thought was a pretzel but then it is past 2 p.m. here and I just realized I haven't eaten anything - so I guess my first thought was food related!

Beautiful!

The sides of the knot sections do you mean - they are fused onto the background and then machine appliqued in place. I have then quilted around close to the knot to make it stand out.

I cut off the selvedge as I use the fabric but I use lots of scrap fabrics so I rely on friends and lovely quilters to keep their selvedges and send them to me or I buy them online. I do try and keep the plain selvedges and word selvedges separated but it doesn't always happen. I have them in bags which I can grab and take to our fishing cabin so I can sew on the verdandah.

Thank you for the photo! That is quite a collection! Do you piece by hand?
