Your sewing cabinet is wonderful, Karen. DH is a great woodworker. Did he have a pattern for it or make one up himself?

Deara 03-04-2009 11:43 AM

What a beautiful cabinet.
Your hubby is a gifted carpenter.
Is that Oak? Such detailed grain in the wood.
Thank you for sharing.

Beautiful Cabinet. Tell your DH that he did a fantastic job. My DH does not do that kind of stuff, I had to pay a bundle for mine.

Quiltntime 03-04-2009 12:08 PM

He is a great woodworking! He purchased the plan from Rockler.

Rockler link for the plan and sewing machine lift.

Thank you for the compliment.

The cabinet is Red Oak with Minwax Special Walnut #224 and clear Polyurethane. The drawer components are made with Alder and finished with shellac.

I just showed my husband.. he said hmmmm.. MEN..

Your husband did a FABULOUS job!

Quiltntime 03-04-2009 12:20 PM

To have any piece of furniture custom made is very expensive. I'm so fortunate that my DH is so talented.

Quiltntime 03-04-2009 12:23 PM

Maybe the "hmmmmm" is giving him an idea for a gift for you.

My DH is so tickled everyone likes the cabinet.

key4unc 03-04-2009 12:47 PM

Honey, that man is a definite keeper!!! I love the way it folds all up so you can hide everything if you need to. And when it's all folded up, it looks like a very expensive credensa (is that the right word?)

Chele 03-04-2009 12:48 PM

What talent! That is a beautiful cabinet. Tell hubby the orders are going to start coming in!

sewjoyce 03-04-2009 01:11 PM

Wow -- I am so jealous! That is the nicest sewing cabinet I have ever seen!!

Moonpi 03-04-2009 01:32 PM

Hubby really made a great piece - it should hold up a loooong time.

gcathie 03-04-2009 01:35 PM

Sorry to disappoint those who want one made, but think this will be the last cabinet.
I have a long "Honey Do" list of furniture projects for him.

Thank you.......I think it's pretty nice too.

Beautiful cabinet!! Your husband did a great job.

Have you had a chance to load it up and take it for a test drive? I think you are going to have MANY happy hours sewing there!!!

tlrnhi 03-04-2009 04:55 PM

Well, if hubby won't take orders to make them, will you rent him out and ship him to us? :)

Shemjo 03-04-2009 04:58 PM

Beautiful cabinet! Maybe he will share the plans! Alas I don't have anyone who would make one for me, so I bought one! I just need to get off this computer and use it!

That's from years of experience, and many tools.

I agree. He made this cabinet from scratch. No kit, just from a Rockler pattern.

Please tell your handsome, talented & handy with wood working man that Miss Sulabug is begging for a sewing cabinet just like yours!! :D I would even take one made out of scrap lumber. We could call it a scrappy cabinet.
