Hi, have you tried drawing on muslin with colored sharpie markers? Use rubbing alcohol 90%, brush over areas you want to disfuse and run. Very interesting results. Rinse/wash -gentle and press dry.
Lots of fun. Moosegirl Flowers Palm tree |

how cool! I've also saw crayons used for doing wall hangings. You can shred them, melt them with a piece of wax paper & wha la it's in the fabric! Cool idea

This is a great idea! Thanks!!!

Mine didn't turn out anything as amazing as hers. We sprayed the alcohol on. She says she brushes the alcohol on - her colors are more blended. Yes I hope she does a tut.

Please do send a tutorial or at least a few more instructions on how much alcohol and anything else you learned.
My 11-year old is VERY interested and wanted to know if you used fat or thin sharpies? We have a plan to get started this summer after she finishes another project. Try this YouTube link: www.youtube.com/watch?v=UYr4SK9L79I Linda |
wow, love it. may have to give that a try. I will add it to my very long list of things I want to try but maybe move it to the top.....hehehee

Making fabric designs with Sharpie Markers. I have broken down the process in easy steps so I hope you give it a try.
Photo 1- setup your work area-pens, 91% alcohol, brushes, muslin, tape, plastic protection, papertowels Photo 2 - drawn large image in pencil Photo 3 - fill in design with sharpie markers using scribbles, thin lines, hash marks, different kinds of lines and blending colors-leave some space for ink to bloom make several and practice-it helps to tape muslin down on plastic or back with freezer paper Set-up Drawing image Coloring with marker Slowly add R Alcohol Check blooming add more alcohol |
Thanks for the tut. I see you have all sizes of brushes - do you different sizes for differnt blending? Dip the brush in the alcohol then blend? Also when your done - do you "set" your design with an iron while its still wet? Sorry so many questions ................. but this is so neat!
|
Let the work dry overnight -then risne and set with iron to complete the piece. You can machine stitch, hand embroider, add beads & embellishments to enhance. Moosegirl
|
AWESOME!!!!!!
|
When you added the alcohol, did you brush it on somehow or just dip the brush in alcohol and then dab it on in places? Sorry about the questions, I just want to understand how to do this cause it is so neat and I want to make some quick flower wallhangings.
|
neat idea
