Shirts/pjs quilt nr. 3: queen sized
1 Attachment(s)
This one is 86x94" and made completely from recycled materials.
The tan was a flat sheet, 100% cotton, purchased at a rather large used clothing store (they also have a few books and bedding/curtains). The shirts were purchased wherever cheap clothing is. There is a lot of cheap used clothing around--it seems mostly from the UK--they are a generous lot! These are all 100% cotton clothing. I finished the binding this morning and washed it this afternoon. I then dried it in the dryer for 15 min. and am letting it dry the rest of the way lying flat. It's not as impressive as the navy one with the same pattern--but in the end, I like it fine. It's a tad bit on the boring side, so for nr. 5 in this project, I'm looking for a pattern with a bit more pizzazz to it! ;) (nr. 4 top is already done--just not yet quilted.) I did grid quilting. My project is that I'm looking to use fabrics that I can buy inexpensively here in Poland and make as nice of a quilt as I can--something so that even the person who doesn't have a lot of cash can do. I want to make 10 quilts this year using these "found fabrics". I'm scouring the places that sell used clothing in order to find interesting fabrics as 100% cotton wovens (in the fabric store) are really not easy to find and the selection is, well, to put it mildly, a little funny, or disheartening, depending on how you look at it. A store just opened in Warsaw, that, I believe, is the first that sells LQS quality fabrics, but it is close to $18/meter, from what I saw on her FB page yesterday. I'm glad it is there, but the poorer person in our area could never even consider making a quilt from that expensive of fabric. |
I love geometric quilting, a LOT.
Well done! |
You may think it doesn't have that ZIP.
I love it!! I think it's great, you've inspired me to do something like this. I love the simplicity of it. great job. |
I think its terrific! All recycled items make it even more special!
you don't think this one is as impressive ... I think it is more so than the blue ones. I liked the blue ones a lot ... but I like this one the best (so far!!).
Another winner. Your productivity is also amazing!

Very pretty quilt and quilting. You did a wonderful job.
Another great quilt .... and i think JUST as impressive...just more subtle. You are more than well on your way to 10 quilts.....So...you have not said.....who will be the lucky recipients of all your great work ??!!
This, like the others, is beautiful. I look forward to seeing what you come up with next!
That is a very beautiful quilt.
I really like this. Good colors together and I like the modern style.
You see boring, I see calm, subdued, homey and warm. I truly and honestly really like this quilt a whole bunch. I wouldn't hesitate to put it on a bed in my home or to give it as a gift. As I said with the other 2 quilts, I feel they are suited for anyone, but are more masculine and well done for a man or teen male. But this one would suit anyone looking for a well made sturdy quilt for their home.
oh, I think it is every bit as impressive. love these.
What a great quilt! Love that it is all recycled fabrics! It looks like it would be a great male quilt too. Sometimes they are hard to find.
Just gorgeous. And I like the more subdued look.
It looks very comfy and snuggly... just right for napping under!
Love your quilt!!
I love this. Reminder of the origin of quilting.
I'm loving all of your quilts very inspiring.

And wonderful project idea...I live in Germany, and, similar to Poland I'm sure, fabric here is also WAY more expensive than in the US, for example. Great that your project aims to make quilting accessible for everyone! |
What a subtle beauty. Not boring at all. Secondly I applaud your efforts to use recycled clothing and fabrics....it is the true spirit of quilting (in my opinion anyway:). Love your work and thanks for sharing your quilts with us.
That would be a great quilt for a man. I just love it.
I love it!
Really, really like this quilt!
I love recycling !!!

I love this. And I also love your thriftiness!
Love this one the best so far too; so much so i actually had to log in to comment and almost burnt my son's birthday cake in the process lol! Beautiful beautiful! Pattern is perfect, love your personal challenge of thrifting shirts and such; kudos on a GREAT job!
This looks really nice.
I think I am going to follow your advise and stay off the computer during the day, starting tomorrow. Too late for today. I love this quilt.
Your quilt is beautiful. You are doing exactly what the pioneer women did when settling the United States, using whatever fabric they had and using every little scrap. You are doing a great thing, as the cost of fabric there is really dear. Keep up your good work, you're doing great.
You are sew creative and resourceful. You do beautiful work.
I like the quilt very much. I don't know how these used clothing quilts come out looking so pretty, but I
love them. And, don't you feel good about the cost of the project? |
looking awesome
As with the others I also love this one. It has great calmness. You do such nice work. Count me in on looking forward to seeing what you come up with next. BrendaK

Your quilt is lovely. Reminds me of some of my Grandmothers scrap quilts.
Another great quilt! When I see your name under a post, I am quick to check out what you've made next. You are a quilt-making-machine! Good job on being resourceful as well.
