I have no idea where I got all this homespun fabrics. I tried to use as much of it as possible. It’s not my favorite to work with. I really shouldn’t quilt such a large quilt on my DSM. Well it’s done and headed out of the house

Very Nice work. Did you quilt it on tour domestic machine?

bearisgray 11-02-2019 04:22 PM

I like it.

Jingle 11-02-2019 04:29 PM

Beautiful quilt.

pocoellie 11-02-2019 04:34 PM

I've been wondering what to do with the homespuns I have, now I know. Yours came out very nice.

PamelaOry 11-02-2019 04:42 PM

Beautiful! My son would love that for his dorm quilt. Now I have more ideas.

QuiltnNan 11-02-2019 04:42 PM

Great homespun quilt!

Wonderful job. I agree that homespun are not the easiest to work with, but the finished quilt is wonderful, cozy, and timeless.

illinois 11-03-2019 03:53 AM

Why did you not like working with the homespun? I have a stash of it, too, and maybe you can "pre-warn" me of what problem it could give me. Love your quilt. It's a very appropriate pattern for homespuns.

AnnT 11-03-2019 04:09 AM

Great job!

A1penny 11-03-2019 04:15 AM

Very lovely quilt. You did a great job!

Lena1952 11-03-2019 04:38 AM

I love your quilt and I love homespuns. I have found lightly starching them makes them behave better. That's the only thing I do differently than when working with quilting cottons or batiks. I agree the end results are so warm and inviting.

cjsews 11-03-2019 04:45 AM

Sewingsuz yes I quilted it on my DSM. What a struggle. Illinois the problem I found was with the looser weave it will stretch a bit as you work with it.
thanks for all the comments

tallchick 11-03-2019 04:49 AM

I love this! Such a homey comfortable quilt that screams vintage style, well done!

juliasb 11-03-2019 04:52 AM

Nice traditional quilt. Feels nice and warm. Well done.

luvstoquilt 11-03-2019 04:54 AM

I was hand starch homespun and that makes it easier to work with.

anonymous 11-03-2019 05:07 AM

You conquered the homespun in a most beautiful way. I don't think I would have the strength or the patience to quilt bigger quilts on a DSM. Good job.

SusieQOH 11-03-2019 05:09 AM

Lovely!!! I never get tired of traditional patterns. Yours is so pretty!

JACRN 11-03-2019 05:12 AM

Doggramma 11-03-2019 05:29 AM

I love your quilt. Why did you not like working with homespuns? You did a great job on this quilt.

Homespuns have a reputation for raveling very easily. They are also very "floppy" for lack of a better word. As others have posted, starching pretty much solves these issues. I love the cozy and camp/country cabin look of homespuns. They make wonderful guy quilts. My favorite lap quilt that I keep on my recliner is all homespuns. I love it. CJ your shoofly quilt is faboo!

Love your quilt! I have been collecting home spuns for a quilt. I need some light fabric for contrast What did you use?

RuthiesRetreat3 11-03-2019 10:32 AM

Oh I love it! The plaids reminds me of grandpa (his shirts and pjs). And I love the pattern too, It's perfect for this.

Wood Sprite 11-03-2019 12:13 PM

That's beautiful! Well done!

Tish05 11-03-2019 01:35 PM

That is a lovely quilt. I've never worked with homespun fabric. It looks great.

sJens 11-03-2019 04:00 PM

Beautiful quilt and quilting.

cjsews 11-03-2019 05:07 PM

Thanks all. Kaye, I used muslin for the background. Seemed to be a good match with homespun. Homey and comfy are exactly what my DD said and she has claimed it.

Grandma Peg 11-03-2019 08:25 PM

Very pretty quilt, good way to use your homespuns.

daisydebby 11-03-2019 08:33 PM

Great looking quilt!!!

llong0233 11-03-2019 09:32 PM

Really well done. Great that is's large enough to fit that bed. Your work is stellar and the old-timey Shoo Fly pattern is perfect.

BrendaK 11-03-2019 09:33 PM

Love this quilt. What size are your blocks, please? BrendaK

cjsews 11-04-2019 05:26 AM

BrendaK I made the blocks 12 inches. This quilt is laying on a double bed at the moment. It will fit well on a queen or king
