Let's have a Show your Works in Progress! My work in progress is a Double Wedding Quilt that will be 103.5 x 103.5.
I will enter this quilt in the Maine Pine Tree Quilters Guild Quilt Show in 2012 so I've got over a year to complete it. I plan to design an original quilting design for the melons and centers. I'm using all batiks in this quilt and I sooooo love it. |

That would require a CAT scan. Most of my works in progress are in my head. It takes me a REALLY long time to select a project and I have multiple ideas I am JUST about ready to start... once I do start, I finish fast. I have the following quilts in a planning process: one for a friend, one (possible a storm at sea) for my aunt, one for my bed, one for each of my two boys (turtle theme and alligator theme), a hunter's star (pattern from a swap), a child quilt for a church auction and one for a 26 x 26 inch picture frame... oh and one with a panel I got for my father. LOL

uha. after enjoying your pictures of many quilts made by yourself, I can really feel different culture of different countries. we have different sence to flower and life.

I scrolled down and what gorgeous things I saw.
Every two to three years I do something outrangeously stupid and I am at the point of just having to square it and bind it. It is the longest I have ever worked on a quilt both piecing and quilting |
Gorgeous work everyone. I couldn't begin to keep up with this talent.

Here are a few of my Baltimore Album blocks that are in progress (very slowly - as they have been back-burnered by "but firsts." All patterns are Elly Sienkiwecz's taken from the Best of Baltimore Beauties, and Baltimore Beauties, Vol II.
The woven basket will be filled with fruit and flowers and topped off with a bow. The split leaf laurel wreath will have (I think 6) ruched roses - you might be able to see the little tiny dots of black - those are placement registration marks. The cornicopia is found in many, many antique Baltimore Album Quilts. Said to represent the Odd Fellows with the colors of yellow (friendship), red (friendship) and blue (truth). The cornicopia will have an abundance of fruit spilling out of it. At the very top of the block you can see a turned over piece of white w/blue grid lines and black pattern. This is a gridded pellon that you trace your pattern onto and then baste to the top part of your block. This is your placement guide so that you don't have to do extensive (or any) marking on your block. As you go from applique piece to another, you just put your overlay back over the block to see where the next piece goes. I do needle turn applique (YLI 100 silk) - and sometimes I do the freezer paper on top, sometimes on the bottom, and sometimes I don't use it at all. All depends on what I am working on and the size of the applique pieces. Sorry the pictures are crooked. Oh my goodness - they are all so gorgeous. Can you imagine how stunning they will be when complete? WOW!

Here is mine. I jumped the gun and started this in the middle of January, when the official start date is June 5th here on the board. To find all the threads for this quilt, go to the bottom of the page, click on Topic Lists, then the BOM section.
This is from the book Affairs of the Heart by Aie Rossman. I have done it all with hand needleturn applique, but it's perfectly possible to machine applique all the pieces. The book has patterns for 7in blocks, but most seem to be enlarging them to 10in for a larger quilt. I still have the outer borders to add (three almost done, one to go). |
They are all stunning and awe inspiring. I feel like I am in the company of true professionals ( and I don't qualify).

Love seeing what everyone is working on! Here's one of my current projects. The lighting in the picture isn't great--the colors are actually brighter than this.

Here is mine. I am making it up (designing it?!) as I go along. It started when I bought this patriotic striped fabric from Bear Paw Quilting when they had their quilting fabric on sale for $3.49 after the holidays. I had never mitered corners before & I thought I would try with this. I had not made the 10 minute block either so that was another guinea pig in this quilt. I didn't have enough of the dark blue stripe to go all of the way around (you need a lot more fabric to miter corners!) so I added the red & white stars. Now it looks like I have a diagonal pattern going on with the 9 patches & the star blocks. I am auditioning what I am going to do next but I think I cut it off in the picture!
|
Gorgeous projects I see! Great works folks! :)
