Simply Twisted Top Completed

3 Attachment(s)
Here is the top I completed this week. The pattern is Simply Twisted from the book Simply Charming Collection by Moose on the Porch Quilts. I am only doing tops for awhile and putting them aside as I almost have enough in my longarm saving accout to finally buy one and then I will do all the quilting. The last picture is an ongoing project I have started, Crumb Wedges. I will be adding to it as I go to use up all the littlest scraps. No pattern for this one, just cutting pieces with a wedge ruler. Everyone have a great day, happy quilting!

Your top is so colorful!

Tartan 01-25-2015 06:46 AM

Lovely tops!

DebraK 01-25-2015 06:48 AM

I know the top quilt as "patches and pinwheels". One of my favorite scrap patterns. Yours is beautiful. Looking forward to see how you work those wedges.

Love, love, love your quilts!
There was a recent thread about multiple names for the same block, this is one where there's multiple names for the same quilt! This is called 'patches & pinwheels' on the Bonnie Hunter site, and I've also seen it in other books under different names.

That's what i know it being called, too. I have one partially done in bright colors too. My goals for this year os to use some of my scraps so I can get the lid on the tubbie the scraps are kept in. This will be my second scrap quilt and the lid still won't go on yet but it's getting closer.

very nicely done

Great looking quilt and wedgie.

Sweet quilt top. When you do get the LA. Practice on muslin first. Then do pantos and then go from there. Also check out the rulers. I am using rulers for domestic machine quilting now and I love it. I wish you luck with your new LA machine. Enjoy the process. Luann

Wow! I love that Simply Twisted!

Judith1005 01-26-2015 05:37 AM

I love the the first top. Thank you for the name of the pattern. Simple, but speaks volumes with your scrappy fabrics. I just love scrappys. I love what your doing with the wedges. A step off crumb blocks. Very clever. I save a lot of my scraps as well. You are truly inspiring me to get moving on using them. (After all, they are building up and threatening to take up space I really don't have.) So thank you for your bright inspiration. :)

Congrats on saving enough for your long arm. I hope you will enjoy it very much when you get it. I've heard of a lot of people who make up a lot of tops so they can practice on them when they get a long arm. Great planning on your part. :) Don't forget to watch for those sales on a roll of batting or two.

Great quilts! thanks for sharing - I may have to steal your idea on the wedges, I really like that

The first one is such a neat scrappy. Love scrappies. And the second one is just great. I am going to have to put this one on my "to do" list which is already on it's second page. LOL

msdb159 01-27-2015 04:38 AM

The first quilt is wonderful. So many different patterns appear as you look at it. Good job.

2manyhobbies 01-27-2015 05:31 AM

Both are beautiful, so cheerful.

JoyjoyMarie 01-27-2015 05:45 AM

Both quilts are great - the wedgy crumb one, just cause it is so random, yet achievable and patterned. I think I may try one of those as a mini just for fun with my tiny crumbs. Thanks for the share!

Wanabee Quiltin 01-27-2015 05:48 AM

Love all those bright colors, lovely quilts.

coopah 01-27-2015 05:53 AM

Very pretty !!!

Quilt Fan 01-27-2015 10:00 AM

That is a fun quilt. Two patches that when put together hide and make another pattern. Do let us know how you use the wedges. Looks like fun.

Oops! Should have said two squares.

ManiacQuilter2 01-27-2015 10:25 AM

Interesting variation on the 16 patch pattern.
