Simply Woven

This one should be called "A Bad Weave" ;-)

Even though I'm pleased with the finished quilt, I did not care for the technique. I think I did everything wrong that I could piecing this one. Could never find my rhythm making the blocks, but I do feel really lucky that I found border fabric in my stash that matched so nicely with the yellow background. Almost looks planned ;-)

Another UFO busted...

Lovely quilt!

Doggramma 11-07-2016 11:16 AM

my goodness that's pretty! Congrats on finishing. If it were me, I'm sure I would've gotten so screwed up, I would've given up.

needles3thread 11-07-2016 11:17 AM

a pretty quilt.....I like the woven effect.

cathyvv 11-07-2016 11:23 AM

It is very pretty. I know what you mean about uncooperative quilt patterns/blocks.

Jordan 11-07-2016 11:28 AM

Very nice quilt and you are right-the border fabric is a perfect match.

QUILTNMO 11-07-2016 11:44 AM

great quilt and colors!!!

QuiltnNan 11-07-2016 11:57 AM

nicely done

Pennyhal 11-07-2016 12:07 PM

I completely understand what you mean about some blocks. Regardless, your quilt is fantastic! Great balance of colors.

marilynr 11-07-2016 12:07 PM

Sorry you had a struggled with this beautiful quilt. The end result is lovely. Enjoy it.

tallchick 11-07-2016 01:00 PM

Beautiful!!! Yes that particular patterns is a headache but you turned it into a beautiful quilt!!! Well done!!!

I love it! When I made it I also got sick of the slicing and re-piecing, so I skipped the last cut. My quilt ended up looking like this, and uneven weave, which was ok with me:

yngldy 11-07-2016 01:10 PM

Gorgeous quilt! What's wrong with it??

DebraK 11-07-2016 01:15 PM

Oh, I really like the way you did that. Looks great.

busy fingers 11-07-2016 01:17 PM

A lovely finish to be proud of.

DebraK 11-07-2016 01:19 PM

lol, yngldy. Nothing really. I'm happy with the quilt, but I wouldn't do another. Tedious technique for me.

osewme 11-07-2016 01:27 PM

That's such a pretty quilt. I would like to make it with all floral fabric. Can you tell me where you got the pattern? Sometimes I feel like I need a challenge & that quilt looks challenging. Thanks for sharing.

DebraK 11-07-2016 01:33 PM

osewme, I found the pattern here:

osewme 11-07-2016 02:21 PM

Thanks for the link. I may just have to bookmark/print that one for a future quilt for myself.

QM 11-07-2016 02:42 PM

The quilt is lovely. I don't think I would care for the technique either.

Tweety2911 11-07-2016 03:01 PM

Good for you, finishing another UFO which is quite beautiful in it's purple glory!

lynnie 11-07-2016 03:18 PM

sorry you had a terrible time with the construction. This quilt came out very nice, and is something to be proud of.I love it.

Cam's gram 11-07-2016 03:39 PM

The quilt looks great! I'm working on a Simply Woven for my DGD and I'm at the point I hate it. I'm with you - made mistakes piecing, felt awkward making it.

toverly 11-07-2016 04:07 PM

It can be really tricky. I have made one out of neckties. I made paper templates of what it should look like each step that helped considerably. Your quilt turned out great!

geevee 11-07-2016 06:13 PM

I think it looks wonderful Debra, love the colors! I made just one block from this pattern for a pillow cover front, it turned out fine but didn't care for the process too much.

Sewbizgirl, yours looks like a plaid. :)

osewme 11-07-2016 07:06 PM

Well, maybe I should reconsider making one of these from all the comments. But I really love it. I guess I could do like geevee and make just one block to see how it goes first. :(
DebraK, if you ever don't want yours anymore I can send you my mailing address. :)

Sync 11-07-2016 08:10 PM

Lovely quilt

BrendaK 11-07-2016 09:28 PM

Super quilt. Love the pattern and the colors. You did a great job. BrendaK

jmoore 11-08-2016 03:46 AM

Debra, congrats on the finish of your UFO. I can only imagine from looking at your quilt that it was quite a challenging project. What a nice feeling to have it finished...

quilterpurpledog 11-08-2016 04:12 AM

Beautiful quilt and such a perfect border fabric! I understand about some blocks being difficult. I have had a couple that I had to pin bits of papers marked with letters, numbers, arrows, etc. in order to get together. I admire your stick-to-it attitude. Paid of beautifully. Enjoy! Thanks for sharing your journey with this one.

luvstoquilt 11-08-2016 04:27 AM

I made that one and I found it very difficult. I liked making the squares but putting it together was a "bear". I donated the top to a group that gives to shelters. Yours is really pretty.

lindaschipper 11-08-2016 04:29 AM

I have this same pattern and actually started it almost two months ago. Like you, just couldn't get into a rhythm for making the blocks. Yours turned out beautiful....mine is a UFO.

nls 11-08-2016 04:45 AM

Very pretty quilt!

coopah 11-08-2016 05:21 AM

It's done! It looks great! Now you can go do something not so challenging! The colors are fabulous.

tessagin 11-08-2016 05:24 AM

Looks great!!

Skhf 11-08-2016 05:39 AM

Your quilt is beautiful but I see there sure was a lot of cutting! Need to keep your cutting table clear for this one. I worry about errors when so much cutting is involved. You did a beautiful job and most important you are done with this one.

SewingSew 11-08-2016 05:52 AM

I love everything about your quilt. The colors are beautiful together. The pattern is gorgeous. All I see is perfection.

momsbusy 11-08-2016 06:04 AM

Very nice.

vivsqt 11-08-2016 06:15 AM

What a pretty quilt. Love your color choices.

paintmejudy 11-08-2016 06:35 AM

Great job. Love your colors

I loved this pattern when I saw it, but also could never find my rhythm with this block, and gave up. The 3 blocks went into the homeless box and will go into a charity quilt.
