Wow, what a fun read I have had this morning--several YEARS' worth. Now someone needs to tell me how to bookmark, so it won't be lost in space; I might find one I like in the future and want to work on it. I never even knew they existed until this morning.....

I just got a 306, the one without the ability to take cams. It does only ZZ and straight stitch.
I straight away recognised it had a 15x1 needle inserted and on checking the hook timing, yes it had been altered. Did a test stitch then opened up my 320k to compare and correct the timing. Put a 206x13 needle in then sewed another row of stitching next to the first one, and both of them looked the same. Shrugged and ripped the stitching apart. The first one came apart easily and looked messy inside. The second was solid as a rock and neat as you could get! So this is the difference the timing makes. Here she is, incidentally: |
Are you sure that isn't a 206 - the 306 takes disks/cams. The 319 takes disks/cams and has keys. I have a 206 but it isn't near as pretty as your two tone one! Mine is just black. Someone put the wrong needle in the one I have. I put a new needle in it and away she sews! One very nice zig zag and straight stitch machine. It is heavy but it isn't going to scoot all over.

Great thread, lots of info.
I just picked up a 319W myself. Rather than clog up this thread, I'll start my own. Cheers |
I've used GOOP to clean my old machines and it works excellent without stripping anything off....it also leaves a little oil which is a good thing!

My sister just bought a Singer 319 and she went to see the OSMG for needles. He came up with serger needles #dcx1f and told her to reset the needle slightly lower. Guess what it works and there are a lot of size options!!!
