I am fortunate enough to live close enough to Sisters to attend this incredible quilt show. I thought I would share some photos of the very inspiring quilts that were presented. I hope you enjoy the show!

The Quilt show was fabulous! The Rain~lightning and thunder did cut it short very quickly but all quilts were safely removed.

You photos are inspiring me. Next year 3 of my quilting friends and myself are planning a road trip to Sisters. We just came back from a Quilt Retreat with our guild. They only do retreats every other year. We can't stand to wait they long for a friendship trip, so Sisters 2013 here we come.

Thanks for sharing your photos! I loved all the traditional patterns in new colour combos. Was the Kitties appliqué or a printed panel? It is just so cute!

I also attended the show in Sisters, as I live in Salem, Oregon. It was a gorgeous show, but definitely less quilts than previously, and I felt there were less people in attendance, too. Loved that I could get into places easier, and really enjoyed the show. The town is absolutely charming, deep blue skies against all the difference shades and textures of greens - and most of the buildings are arts and crafts or rustic styles. Loved that there was a section of the show featuring male quilters....and some of them are fantastic quilters! What a blessing to live so close...only 2 hours and 15 minutes away.

Thank you for sharing your photo's!! I didn't get to go this year and I missed it!! I heard they had to take down the quilts early for the first time in the shows history because of a thunderstorm!! Did you get wet???

Sisters is in Central Oregon. This quilt show is the largest outdoor quilt show in the world. This year I believe there were upwards of 1400 quilts displayed.

Kristen0112; I agree, my cousin and I attended and felt there were not as many quilts on display as last year. But, there were quilts located in other areas too. Black Butte Resort, Old Mill Shopping District and Five Pine Lodge to name a few so perhaps that's why we felt there were less.
I also felt there were far fewer traditional quilts and more abstract and artsy quilts than before. JMHO

Thanks for posting pictures. I was there too. I enjoyed it but didn't take any pictures this year. I also thought there were less quilts than last year of course last year seemed to have way more quilts than normal.
|
grammysharon; Yes, the quilts had to be taken down around the 3:00 hour due to a massively intense thunder/lighting/rain monsoon storm! It was unfortunately directly over the quilt show and yes, we did get totally soaked to the skin!! All the quilt show workers were so quick to get the quilts down ASAP! Very impressive how well coordinated the show is!!

Thank you so much for sharing your pics Devokitty. What spectacular quilts. I love them all, traditional, art, landscape. The mermaid one was amazing and looked to have very dense and intense quilting, wish I could have seen it in person. I also loved the cat one. (of course! LOL )
