Just home from my week with my sisters. Lots of fun! And of course we sewed and sewed and sewed.

We did these little hangings for a sale at the hospital.

My grandmother was a sewer by necessity, but she was good! My mom started out as a school teacher and then raised the three of us so she didn't sew much, then when I was 12 I wanted a sewing machine. I still remember going with my uncle in his yellow VW beetle to the train station to get the package from Simpsons-Sears! It was too heavy to come through the mail!

Mom caught the sewing bug after that and she made lots of clothes. There wasn't a piece of polyester crepe knit that was safe in our little town!! And she joined the Women's Institute when we were in high school and then the quilting fun began!

[quote=Elizabeth A.]WOW! What a great pile of your creations! Do you know ahead what you'll make? Or just plow in?

Each one of us has to prepare a project... plan, and buy the materials and "teach" the technique or know the pattern well enough to be the teacher if need be.

Then if time allows and there's another project we like we do it and buy our own materials.

Fun times!

Bernadette Harwood 11-10-2008 04:56 AM
