small blue and white star quilt

Ribbon star block with maverick star sashing. No pattern to share. Did this one on the fly. You can find a tutorial for the ribbon star on the Fresh Lemons Quilt Blog. This one is for a preemie who is finally getting to go home after a long 4 month stay in the hospital. Yay! He made it!

Love the design and the colors. As a grandmother of a DGS who was in the hospital a long time, I am so happy for him and his family.

cute cute cute. Never heard the term Maverick star sashing before. I just called them wonky stars.

Diane007 07-26-2012 11:56 AM

very pretty quilt

DebraK 07-26-2012 12:35 PM

Thank you ;-) I've seen it both ways. Most people call them wonky stars these days, but the tutorial I learned from (many, many, moons ago) called them maverick stars. I hadn't used them for sashing before. That was fun, and I thought it added more interest to the quilt.

Special quilt for a special baby (all babies are special, for sure the ones that had to leap hurdles). So nice of you to do this. Thank the Lord for letting him go home with his parents. BrendaK.

Beautiful quilt! And thanks for the link - more things for my bucket list.

Happy for the family and their little man. My babe spent 2 weeks in NICU 31 years ago(things have come a long way since then!) - today he's 6'3" and a strapping young man.

Hope your little preemie does as well. :-)

newestnana 07-28-2012 06:46 AM
