I'm sticking to my "no more than four unfinished projects" at a time rule.
I got Fall Twist back from the quilters. I'm happy enough with it, I was just hoping when I gave her complete decision power, she'd do something more involved. She ended up doing about the same as I did to the bargellos I quilted. She did some random wave sort of work in the border. A bit disappointing because she's great at custom work. Anyway--it's done--binding and all. The batik binding was tough on the fingers! Finished the little bargellos. One is 25" by 21", the other is a table topper at 23" by 13". My daughter-in-law loves that one, so after a quilt show, it's hers. I FMQed both and am very pleased. The woman at the quilt show I'm doing Wed loved buying potholders last time, so I made 15 of them with panels. I'm practicing sewing the binding on by machine, and after some good advice from a "Main" post I got it worked out. I still have a few bindings to get on those. Thanks for looking! :-D Your remember this one.... The quilting in the border.... backs backs baby bargellos. :-) I'll be making more of these. You can get the idea of the quilting here... potholders... almost done with all 15 |
Very pretty.

They look wonderful. Congrats on finishing

Wait, are the first two pictures of Fall Twist?
Fabulous and very vortex-y. I'll wait until you verify before I add more. ;-) |

All so beautiful!
|
They look great! That quilt show will be the hit of the retirement home.
|
Ok, again, LOVE the vortex.
However, that quilting - you sent that out? I could have done more with it and I don't FMQ. It's not that it looks horrible, but that's like the LAZIEST job of LAQ-ing I've seen. Ever. I hope you didn't pay much. How big is it? That's the kind of job I'd expect from some of those ads in the back of QNM. "King size quilt for $35." I just found my first quilt - a king size TATW disaster. That's appropriate quilting for it. Again, it has nothing to do with your lovely pieced top. As usual, the fabric selection is fabulous. I would have left it there and made her do more or do it over. |
like all the quilts but really love your potholders. good job.
|
Everything is gorgeous, I love the Bargello quilt.
|

But, this is only the third top I've made where I felt custom quilting was in order. The same quilter did both those other pieces--and they were amazing. I was expecting amazing for this one...and just didn't get it. There was a shop hop, and the bargello was displayed on the long arm--and they sold a few books with the design. I had to call to see if it was done... and they were teasing that they'd like to keep it there for a few more days. But, I wanted to get it ready for the show. The ladies there will love it. I might sell it... I'm just not attached to it like the simpler floral one I did. |
Very lovely. With the first- bargello if you
squint it looks like you could jump right into the center. Just love it! |

Again, the quilt is still great. And if I saw it, I would have thought that maybe the maker quilted it, and wasn't very experienced at FMQ-ing. Not a big deal. It would still be a great quilt.
And people laugh when I go into the LAQ all armed with scribbles and thread colors and pictures of what I want where. Totally open to a discussion, of course, but sort of setting a threshold for the barest minimum I want. ;-) Oh. And I call first dibs on the floral should you ever want to sell it. ;-)  |
I love those little bargellos-Where did you get the patterns?
