Snake River Log Cabin

1 Attachment(s)
I bought this as a kit a number of years ago, and have been working on it off and on as I have time between other projects. I finally got the body of the quilt on the design wall. It is a queen, so the design wall is too small to put up the borders. I am really loving this one! Pattern by Judy Martin.

Amazing design & color! I love the placement of the blocks. It reminds me of some sort of elegant flooring that would maybe would be in an important building from the past. Thanks for sharing.

Wow, wow, wow! Beautiful! Just started cutting strips for my first log cabin but it will be much more basic than this!

zozee 09-01-2019 06:29 AM

QuiltnNan 09-01-2019 08:22 AM

It's looking great

Tartan 09-01-2019 08:41 AM

Beautiful blocks and you would need to put them on your design wall to keep them in position for sewing!

helou 09-01-2019 08:55 AM

really nice. you are very courageous. lots of practice with 1/4" seams. I did one of hers and I am not sure I am that skilled to start another one.

Man, that's an amazing pattern. No wonder it's taken you years off and on. It will be a magnificent quilt when finished.

Jingle 09-01-2019 02:36 PM

Beautiful so far, better when it is finished. You have lots more patience than I do.

jillmc 09-01-2019 04:08 PM

Your quilt is gorgeous! That is a lot of cutting and piecing...please post the completed quilt...this is close to the top of my to-do list, thanks for the inspiration!

Fabulous! What a beauty.

BettyM 09-03-2019 05:51 AM

Thank you all for your kind comments. As I said, I can't take credit for the design or the colors, since it was a kit. But I wonder if I would have bought the kit if I had realized the logs finished at 1 inch!! It certainly was a lesson in cutting and piecing accuracy. (I cut all these pieces before I bought my Accuquilt!) I guess I will find out better what my accuracy in piecing was like when I sew these blocks together. But I have enjoyed making this, and to see it on the design wall makes it all worthwhile.

P.S. An additional perk with buying the kit was the autographed book that the pattern was in!

I made this quilt pattern for my daughter and son in-law as a wedding gift as a king size quilt. I worked on it everyday for an entire year. I do have to say that I like it after all that time, but was glad to have it finished. Yours is beautiful, like the color way.

LAF2019 10-13-2019 01:41 PM

Stunning! I love it

leaha 09-16-2020 11:38 AM

granky 09-16-2020 03:24 PM

No wonder you've been working on it for a few years....that is a lot of work! Beautiful!

BettyM 09-17-2020 05:33 AM

Bldegrote, How did you enlarge your quilt to a king size? I have mine all sewn together, including borders. And now we have purchased a king size bed (had a queen before)! This quilt was to go on our bed, but I am afraid it's a bit smaller than I would like on a king.

Rebaquilts 09-17-2020 07:38 AM

Love the movement! Reba

Gorgeous quilt and beautifully done. I have that book and have admired that pattern for a long time but it looks too challenging for me to attempt at this time.

Very pretty, this far along I would be in a hurry to get it finished just to see it complete and on a bed. Nice job so far!

CarolinePaj 09-18-2020 02:36 PM

Wow...that is a lot of work... worth it thought as it is lovely!

Hugs
