I have made many of these so far..some only one in a particular fabric and some I did 2, 3 or 4 depending on how much fabric I had to use up..I have several more to do but need to get more metal tape measurers. Each has at least one outside pocket..a few have two. All have one or two inside pockets and all are stippled and it gives them a nice body.
I am making them for gifts...will be nice to have so many things made up so early and also to use up so many fabrics I don't want anymore for quilts..

Those are very pretty, how do we get on your Christmas list???

Kellie G 07-28-2010 03:31 AM

Your snap totes look great. I am sure they will be loved as gifts. I just bought the pattern for snap happy when I was on vacation in Indiana in June. I had never heard of these. I was told to get the tape measures at the dollar store. I went to Shipshewana and bought 5 for $1 each at the flea market. Keeping an eye out at garage sales too!!!!

I found the smaller ones 3/4" at dollar tree and just a buch has the 1" wide ones ..those i need for the totes but the 3/4" are perfect for the small bags

raptureready 07-28-2010 04:44 AM

Okay, I'll admit that I'm purse pattern illiterate but what are the measuring tapes for?

cherylynne 07-28-2010 04:46 AM

Pretty bags and nice work. You are getting ready for birthdays and the holidays.

go to this site and you will see how she does small bags..nice for snacks or cosmetics or small sewing things whatever..I just used this idea and made them large for totes..i got the pattern for the totes but I don't like the way she puts them together so do it the same as the small bags and just add pockets
I did alot of stippling on them but not sure it shows in the pics

Thanks! I just looked, amazing!!! Sometimes I wonder how people come up with these things.

It's kind of like pickled pigs feet. Do you ever wonder who the first person was that said, "Hey let's wash these off and pickle them." And also why they would.

Beachbound 07-28-2010 05:02 AM

Thanks for the link! I think I'll try this. Your bags are beautiful, I love the blue butterfly one the best.

On the small bags I used ziplock bags that I cut to fit and lined the bags with that so they'd be good for snacks for kids or for cosmetics etc..keep that idea in mind also for the totes..maybe a plastic table cloth would work from $ store or you can buy clear plastic at fabric stores

AshleyO 07-28-2010 06:14 AM

Beautiful Sue! I LOVE the butterfly one, but they are all lovely :)

Sue: I would take that 1st one on the left of the top picture. It is beautiful. Lucky person who gets it.

Good idea getting ready for gift giving early. Saves so many headaches and rush jobs.

Have a great weekend, Gwyn

What pattern did you use for this bag? Or do you have a tutorial for it?

I used the same pattern as the SNAP BAG that I made so many of from the free tutorial on line and just made them larger..the sizes vary a little because it depends on the size of the piece of fabric I had to use but most are about 13 x 15" or so

suezburd 09-30-2010 08:26 PM

All very nice!!!

This week we are visiting family and all six of my husbands family are here so I gave the the totes and they seemed to love them..I was so pleased...even one who didn't think she wanted one changed her mind as she thought they were nicer than some she has so will replace one....they r easy and fun to make
