Just got a few blocks done and laid out side by side. These are from Civil War era charm squares that I got on line. Still got a long ways to go, there are 288 blocks total( 132 pieced)
I laid those out wrong they will actually be on point!
Still look good that way!!!
Purty!
looking good!!!
Can't wait to see the finished quilt |
After the last 2 quilts I have to do kind of a no brainer type quilt, I am more excited about the fabric than the actual pattern.
I think the simplicity of the pattern and the large centre patches will just make a person notice the fabric so much more, beautiful fabric! Show us more as you go :)

No matter how they are laid out, It's still VERY pretty. I can't wait to see it done
Going to be great, I see what you mean about the fabric . It's great in a simple pattern :D
Loretta, I am going to do the URR. Still collecting fabric for it. Thinking on getting the Barbara Brackman book first, I have E.B's but want to see which I like better.
I love your quilt! I LOVE Civil War reproduction fabrics and have a nice stash-would love to share some with you if you need more! Just PM me with your addy and I will be happy to put some in the mail to you. Some of mine are 4-5 years old, so you may not have them.... :)
Thanks Marcia!!! I just get all squishy about civil war fabrics!!!

Loreta, did you check out the site Ruth posted on your thread "Making an underground Railroad Quilt" That is a great site

That is going to be one fine piece of work. Sneak peeks are great, but I know this one won't do it justice once it's all finished.
Can't wait to see. As I like to exclaim, I know a good thing when I see it. And your blocks as they're turning out are going to make a great quilt. My first impression sees it on an overstuffed leather chair in a library surrounded by books echoing of times past. |

These are just laid out on the floor. If you see any that need to be moved because of too much light or dark in one spot tell me Please!!!
Wow!! I saw that pattern and it scared me so I didn't get it. That looks fabulous!!! You've worked hard and it shows!! So Civil War(ish) looking....
Karla, its not hard at all! Its just an uneven 9 patch and alternate block. Pretty much a no brainer.
WOW! I really like your quilt! Looks better on point too.
That is fantastic, wow can you imagine doing that all by hand?
You did a great job with these blocks!!! I think it looks awesome just how you have it laid out!!!

Take a deep breath and look at it. It's a single Irish Chain. They don't come any easier. Instead of even 9 patch blocks for the chain you make the strip set for the middle with a slightly wider middle piece and cut that section into slightly wider slices. You can do it in your sleep! tim in san jose |
That looks really pretty! Love it!
Keep up the good work.... |
WOW!!!!
Looks good to me. Kirsten |
Oh I just love this....it is amazingly effective....can you explain about the uneven 9 patch again..... :? m Do you mean that the centre cross is wider than the two outside edges???
WOW keep up the good work.
oh my very, very nice. I just love how it looks and i don't think you need to change any of the blocks around. PERFECT 8)
Oh my gosh girl. THAT IS GORGEOUS..
Oh, Melissa-that is just stunning!!! I want one too!!! It is amazing how you can take such a simple pattern and make it SO STRIKING

All those little quite blocks in a nice neat row made me pass it by. Mark chose a different pattern... maybe I'll let him decide if he likes this one better. :D It looks just awesome all together. I don't see a block I'd move. |

I didnt strip peice it, which was sort of a pain but these were all cut from 5" in charms sqs, but it would be very easy to strip peice it! does this make sense? |
That is so nice. Looks good to me. You have been really hard at work, haven't you?
Looks great!!
