Are these quilts ever cute! You did a great job. I have one of those stands too. Got it from Connecting Threads when they had their sale last year.

cpcarolyn 02-09-2014 07:29 AM

Very pretty. Good job.

wendiq 02-09-2014 07:51 AM

Maybe this has been answered, but I don't see it......where is the pattern? It is really a nice little hanging. I have that stand and try to change out my little quilt every month, but I need a snowflake! Love yours....:)

goldbeacher 02-09-2014 08:00 AM

I too bought that stand last summer at a show and it sits in my closet! Thanks for your post, I will challenge myself to make a block each month for it. Love the snowflake!

callen 02-09-2014 08:01 AM

I do wish ALL the snowflakes we have here in Northern Ontario (& we have lots) were as beautiful as
yours QuiltE !!!

QUILTNMO 02-09-2014 08:02 AM

very nice snowflakes!!!!

meanmom 02-09-2014 08:23 AM

I love your snowflakes. I have seen that pattern somewhere but where. I love to paper piece. WOuld you share where you found that pattern? I don't have a stand but would like one. I just might have to accept your challenge to do this. Something like this has been floating around in my jumbled mind for quite some time.

DogHouseMom 02-09-2014 08:32 AM

QuiltE ... lovely little quilts!! I've had snow every three days so far this year but I'd welcome your snow flakes any day of the week. And no ... I won't use my snow blower :)

Seriously .. they are wonderful!!

Lovely snowflake. I do the same thing I change out my mini quilt every month. Here is what I have for Feb., maybe this will give you an idea. I've added hot fix crystals to the heart and word.

wraez 02-09-2014 09:33 AM

I love snowflakes and do not tire of seeing them! Gratefully I don't live where we get many real snowflakes, tho can understand why much of the country might be a little chilly toward them, LOL ...yours are wonderful!

FURBALLS 02-09-2014 10:41 AM

Oh those are so pretty. Did you paper piece? I am not good at that..Great job:)

nstitches4u 02-09-2014 11:08 AM

Beautiful! That kind of snow, I can still enjoy. The kind that is falling outside my window right now is another story! lol

QuiltingJaguar 02-09-2014 11:24 AM

My stand also sits alone, how to make one to fit it?? Suggestions?? I love the 2nd one you did like a Hexie type.
Thanks for sharing

Quiltinjay 02-09-2014 11:29 AM

Thanks for that great idea!

QuiltE 02-09-2014 11:35 AM

Lots2Do ... Great! Look forward to seeing what you create.

BizyStitches ... That's my plan too, to have a rotating monthly series. Thanks for the February inspiration. Nice touch with the crystals. Now please do show us your January block ... and continue to show in the coming months too. THANKS!

DHMom ... Oh no! the snowblower cometh!!!! :( BTW it is snowing here yet again!! More:(............. of course, I know you're kidding. (I think???:D:D:D)

Here's links to the free patterns for the hexie block .............
http://www.quiltdesignnw.com/PDF/Bon...ke_pattern.pdf

For the first snowflake, I made it at 50% of the pattern size. It was a free pattern for one block that I found online. It had been printed originally in Quiltmaker Issue #94, November/December 2003.

QuiltswithConvicts 02-09-2014 11:35 AM

Cute, cute, cute!!!

QuiltE 02-09-2014 11:39 AM

QuiltingJaguar ... my stand holds a 12" block, so being that it is finished as a flat block, it finishes at 12-1/2". Of course, your frame might be a different size, so you would need to check it. You can make the block as detailed or as simple as you want and then you sandwich, quilt and bind it, just like a regular quilt.

FurBalls ... yes both are PPd

gramquilter2 02-09-2014 11:54 AM

Nice and love your theme block of the month.

You asked for my January block (which is a tiny bit bigger than the 12 x 12). I decorate a lot with snowmen during the winter. Crystals are in the center of small snowflakes coming down as some of the quilting.

QuiltE 02-09-2014 01:10 PM

BizyStitches ... now that is just so darned cute! Me too! I leave my snowmen things out til the snow disappears.

QM 02-09-2014 01:13 PM

Excellent idea, and small quilts.

works4me 02-09-2014 01:40 PM

Fabulous QuiltE. I really like both but especially like the mug rug.
BizyStitches - wonderful.

I don't have a quilt hanger but have been toying with the idea of using one of my many sign stands for the exact same purpose. The quilt would have a rear sleeve to slip over the stand. For the moment, not on the radar as there is too much else on the go but maybe later.

Looking forward to seeing future months.

Jackie R 02-09-2014 01:45 PM

What a good idea you have - one interesting block a month shouldn't be too difficult to come up with. I'm going to give it a try too.

nls 02-09-2014 02:05 PM

Both are very cute!

QuiltE 02-09-2014 02:28 PM

W4Me ... oh you can do it! Just one little block a month, whether for your sign stands or just to hang on a little spot on the wall. You could even do a continuing Halloween monthly theme! I have it pictured already ... the winter witch with snowflakes. February Franky in love. March .................... :D:D:D:D

JanieH 02-09-2014 02:54 PM

Love both of your pieces!

I, too, have a stand like yours sitting idle. I think I will take up your challenge and do 1 block amonth for it. Thanks for the inspiration!

feline fanatic 02-09-2014 03:09 PM

I love your snowflake block, it is beautiful. The fabrics you picked for it are perfect. And thank you for sharing the pattern. Silver linings originals also one free snow flake blocks for download. http://www.silverliningsoriginals.com/qc/supe.html and then the more complex ones are for sale. She has great PP patterns.

The hexi mug rug is cute too. It will be fun to watch what you come up with for each month. What fun it will be for you to display them on your holder too. They will seem new again by the time you pull them out to display next year. Your Scotty dog lamp is very cute too.

QuiltE 02-09-2014 03:49 PM

Thanks FelineF .... for the extra link
Never enough snowflakes ... of the quilty kind! :)

Yes, I am looking forward to the monthly creations .... and now that there looks like more may join me, it should be even more fun!

Daleen 02-09-2014 04:10 PM

Auntie Em 02-09-2014 06:43 PM

Billy'swife 02-09-2014 07:39 PM

Love, love, love........now I want to get a little stand like you have and will have another project added to my "want to make" list. It's all your fault! The snowflakes are the cutest.

Shirlrh 02-09-2014 07:58 PM

So cute! Loved the snowflakes.

kydeb 02-10-2014 04:48 AM
