Seriously?..seriously? you would have the nerve to point that out as an error? Your little quilt is beautiful and I would have thought you wanted it that way, since both the top and bottom are the same, as are the 2 sides.....silly woman....I love it!!!
On a separate note, where did you get the candy cane fabric, it's awesome :)

So I am keeping if for myself, which is fine because I loved the way it turned out. Made a different small quilt for the auction. I think it it hadn't been made to be auctioned off to quilters, I would have donated it, but you never know where the Quilt Police are lurking, ready to pounce and laughingly point out your errors!

Snowman and small wall hanging
Love it! I would not have noticed the differance. Your work is beautiful and you have every right to be proud of it.

Donate it. The candy cane border is wonderful, the sides match, the top and bottom match. &$#@*& on the quilt police!
Love it! If you had not mentioned the sashing strips, I would never have noticed. Your work is beautiful and you have ever right to be proud. Gives me a new idea for next Christmas. Thanks for sharing.
Beautiful work. Love the snowman.
It's not uncommon for the side borders to be different from the top and bottom borders. As long as they each match, and they do, I wouldn't worry about it a bit!!
How adorable!
Love it!!!!!
Love your small snowman quilt different size shashing and all..
Really cute hanging
I so love this...not what I was expecting when I seen the title...I expected applique. If there are quilt police that would make any negative comments...they need to be fired. I had not noticed the difference in sashings till you pointed it out. If I had, I would have thought it was for artistic reasons.
I thought those were intentional coping strips. I kept looking for the ones that were cut wrong. Looks great to me.
Really cute, don't see a thing wrong with it.
It doesn't look like an error to me. It looks planned. Who made the rule that every border/ sashing had to be the same width? If there is such a rule, I've broken it many times because I wanted to make a quilt longer than it was wide. Your quilt is lovely and I know you will be happy to have it hanging on your wall! However, if fear of the quilt police was the real reason for deciding not to donate it, my advice is: "GET OVER IT!" froggyintexas

beautiful ...remember when the quilt police point a finger at you they have 3 pointing back at them :-)

And what's more, borders are an area where size differences can be made up. If you need to add to the width, do so. If you need to reduce top and bottom borders do so. Still think the candy care borders are ultra-fantastic-------------and the selling point of the wall hanging. |
Beautiful, I LOVE redwork!!!
I love it and would have kept it even if it didn't have an un-noticeable boo-boo! Good job!
Very cute.
That is just too dang cute! Like others I never would have noticed a difference is the borders.
