about the difference between sewing patterns and quilting patterns. I've never sewn before, but I've always wanted to learn. One of the responses told me there was a good book available in the classifieds. I bought it and have enjoyed reading it and applying it. It had been on my must buy list, so I was really happy to get it.

Another wonderful quilter pm'd me with interest in helping me make some of the projects I was looking at. She is absolutely wonderful and not only do I look forward to learning more from her, she's such a gem and I look forward to a great friendship too.

This is my first sewing project ever. I wanted to add some disclaimers for the copyrights. All the projects I've picked out are free patterns. I have no intention of ever making one to sell it. The first bunch (I have 3 patterns picked out) are all for my personal use and I'm enjoying learning things from them.

Ok, here are the pics. I made a little organizer that hangs below your machine.

I put on the pocket

The rest are all finished pictures. I variated from the pattern enough to add the pocket to a fat quarter sized quilt sandwich that I practiced FMQ on.

What a great job. If you did that having never sewn before, I cannot wait to see what you turn out after some practice.

I must have replied before I saw this. Thank you all very much for your comments.

I quilt, and have quilted for a few years. But I find that while people who have sewn before can pick up quilting fairly easily, sometimes it's hard for people who quilt (and I'm almost an intermediate quilter) to learn how to sew. Sewing and quilting definitely cousins, but not the same.
