Some gave all

I just finished this valor quilt to be donated to a local veteran's program. The only things that didn't come from my scrap and tag ends bag was the backing and the patriotic print that was part of the border. Everything else was scrips and scraps. I have a dear friend who has a wonderful veteran's program and always seems to know who needs cheering up.

Thanks everyone! It was a fun little quilt to make...I had no idea that I had that much red, white and blue in my bags! I'm more of a warm/autumn colors gal, so the sheer amount of these scraps was a huge surprise....note to everyone, throw nothing away! Fabric is too expensive and you WILL need it at some point.

sewingsuz 11-10-2016 10:48 AM

Your quilt is outstanding.

Your Quilt of Valor turned out so pretty. I like the pattern style you did. I could see that in my future for making one. I have never made one yet.

Hope you don't mind - but I will most likely copy that to some degree. It is a great way to use up scraps.

I used a similar one on Pinterest for inspiration, so go ahead. (my 'flag' blocks were cut with my 9 1/2" square if that helps) Also, if you look...some of the whites aren't exactly white...I used pale beige with a white print as well.

tuckyquilter 11-12-2016 04:57 PM

Love it. I just awarded 4 quilts yesterday from my group, three WWII and one Korea vets. Making the larger size now required is sometimes challenging. I had all my patterns set up for the smaller 55 x 70 size. LOL. The group I started is called Channel Islands QOV Gals. You can look us up on the national registry on the gov site. There are only 5 of us at any given time but we have a ton of fun. Y
