Those are great! My daughter loves frogs...did you design that one? They are wonderfully bright and cheerful. More, more!

bj9patch 06-22-2007 10:44 AM

Thank you. My guild had a fabric challenge and the green spotted fabric was it. Quite frantly I did not like the fabric at all. I draped it over my sofa hoping for inspiration. After a few days of looking at it, frogs came to mind. I found various pictures of frogs and worked it out. It was so much once it came together.

BarbC 06-22-2007 10:53 AM

Those are all lovely. I love blues and greens together. The frog is cute. But wow! The dancers. I love that! Is that a pattern you can purchase or find online or did you design it? Barb C.

ceannastahr 06-22-2007 10:53 AM

I think there all wonderful great work on them all.

Can't wait to see what you do next.

bj9patch 06-22-2007 11:31 AM

Knot Sew 06-23-2007 03:16 PM

I love your work. It all seems to be bright and cheerful.

vicki reno 06-23-2007 04:01 PM

Please don't make me pick a favorite. :!: They are too beautiful to pick a favorite. :-) What great work! I love the colors. Somehow, when others do beautiful, bright colors, I love it, but never pick them for myself! Great job! You are one talented lady!

Yvonne 06-23-2007 05:11 PM

Your quilts are beautiful.
I've been to the dancer's web site and I have to say I didn't really like the dancers. I've changed my mind after seeing yours. It's wonderful. I like the bright colors and the movement of the dancers. I had no idea that pattern would turn out so neat.
The frog is awesome. The color placement is great.
I'm with Vicki. Don't make me pick a favorite. Show us more!

Boo 06-24-2007 11:06 AM

bj, thas is what I love about batiks, the variance of color. You did a great job utilizing that green and pink in your large frog. Can't wait to see more of your work.

Carla P 06-24-2007 01:39 PM

Thank you so much for the positive feedback. It is so refreshing to be among talented and positive ladies. Here is a coat I made some you might have seen already and a baby quilt for a co-worker.

vicki reno 06-25-2007 05:46 AM

Very nice. You have lots of talent!

Yvonne 06-25-2007 05:57 AM

That is the sweetest little baby quilt. I love the fabric. Some I've not seen here on the northern Cal. coast. The label is great!

The jacket you've made is very, very elegant.

Can't wait to see what else you've created. Keep up the great work.

Boo 06-25-2007 07:37 AM

bj, I want that coat!!!! Unfortunately, it prolly wouldn't fit me. I'm sort of shaped like a weeble with legs.
Your work inspires us. Please keep posting. :D

bj9patch 06-25-2007 09:13 AM

Boo, You are too funny! I am sure you would look fabulous in it. You all inspire me! I initially join this board a few months ago but really did not participate. You know how work gets in the way of our creative life ! Work is still work, but I was determine to be part of the group and become an active member. I am so glad to share with you all.

It's funny, after I created the coat and wore it to my guild meeting, 4 ladies asked me do a private workshop for them and asked how much would I charge. This being my first workshop, I gave them a price thinking they would never go for it. To my surprise, they agreed. That's when I really I got nervous about it since I've only been quilting only 4 years and they've been quilting for many years. Well, I did the workshop and each of their jackets came out so well! They love them. Thank you for the positive feedback.

BJ from NYC.

vicki reno 06-25-2007 09:37 AM

Way to go!!!! We had a thread not long ago about how to value your work and to consider it art. I think you have just affirmed for us all that while we knew it was art, it was time to act like it too! Good job!

Knot Sew 06-25-2007 11:46 AM

Tell more about the coat..is it a pattern? Do you cut up a quilt? It is just lovely

bj9patch 06-26-2007 04:22 AM

Yes it's a pattern. Basically you make your own fabric. You take a bunch of fat quarters and cut them into various sized lengths but keep the width measurement the same. You start making strips then add the strips together. Ultimately you make 3 big pieces. You machine quilt them then wash them. Are you tired yet reading this? It is alot of work! You use these 3 pieces to lay out the coat pattern on. Once you cut out all the pieces (sleeves, front, back, collar, etc.), you can then couch decorative yarns on top of each piece. Still not tired? Then you sew the coat together.

You can get the pattern here:

Enjoy.

BJ,

I hereby declare you are no longer allowed to claim the status of "Beginner", "Newbie", or "Inexperienced". In addition, you are also banned from using such phrases as "I've ONLY been quilting for..." and "I have trouble with color...". You are being promoted, whether you like it or not, and are encouraged to join our BOtM.

You are very talented, and I'm so glad you allowed yourself to value your own work enough, as Vicki previously stated, to do the workshop. Great job!!

Rock on Girl!!! (I'm going to go practice... )

bj9patch 06-26-2007 05:38 AM

Wow. I will take the promotion gladly  Thank you so much for the encouragements. I will look at the BOM thread and will try to jump in. I think I'll be way behind but will do my best.

Thanks again.

Boo 06-26-2007 09:22 AM

bj, I can't believe it, I already have that pattern. You did such a great job with your color choices that I didn't even recognize it as the Noelle Jacket. Guess I better get busy this summer so I have a new coat by fall.

bj9patch 06-26-2007 11:13 AM

Excellent. I plan to do another one in browns with a little hint of gold and green. Keep me posted on your progress.

Thank you for your kind words. I just checked. The website for the jacket is still good.

Try copying and pasting the link to your browser. Or go to
www.rag-merchant.com then search for the jacket.

Let me know if you are still having problems with it.

Here is another baby one I did for another co-worker.

rein 10-02-2007 01:43 PM

I wish my granddaughter were one of your co-workers so she could have you make her a quilt! Our 1st great-grandbaby is due in March - since she does not live out east, guess I will have to try my best. But I'm afraid I am not any where close to your talents!!! Thanks for sharing.

amma 10-02-2007 04:59 PM

A perfectly pink quilt and pillow! Those are both adorable! The little one is pretty cute, too! :D :D :D

bj9patch 10-03-2007 04:27 AM

Good morning,

I am sure you can make this quilt. It's just one big quilt block. The pattern was in the Quilter Maker magazine last year. I'll look to see if I still have the magazine. I can then send you what month and issue it was.
