And, there you have the wonders of scraps!
Like in the Old Testament - - the widow who went through a famine with a blessed jar of oil and cup of flour - - never more, but never less ... three months ago, I figured they breed or something when exposed to fresh air, but Miss Bonnie mentioned the flour and oil in her last mystery, and frankly, it just makes more sense <g> ... <wave>

Love the curtain idea. Really need to incorporate something like this in my new (to me) "country style" home

Sue Fish-
Do you mind explaining how you did the block for the first quilt you posted? I have some strips that I'd like to try that with. It's really striking.

Love them all. Each is nicer than the last. And curtains! How clever!

BMP 04-17-2011 07:02 AM

Very nice ideas and work !

DeniseP 06-01-2013 06:28 PM

I used your idea to make a piano key border for a quilt for my sister. I sewed my piece onto fabric instead of paper and sewed the whole thing to the quilt. It used up scraps and she loved it.

So very pretty, Sue. I have some plain curtains in my guest room that need dressing up. This will do the trick. Thanks for showing us how to do it.

audsgirl 07-29-2015 08:43 PM

These are all lovely, and they are terrific uses of scraps or leftovers. Well done!

What is the best way to remove the paper?

heres how I remove....first make your sewing stitch small...1.8 or less, then when time to remove - the paper is so perforated from those small stitches it practically falls out, but I use the point of a T-pin, corsage pin, ripper or stiletto- whichever is handiest- to gently run across those stitches (on backside) to break any paper that is still together....and just sit and remove...with trashcan at your feet!

nls 08-09-2016 03:31 AM

They are all very pretty!

Awesome! I love the swag. I have seen sliding door board mounted valances before that were quilted. The affect was like stained glass. All of your quilts are interesting.

Mariah 08-09-2016 10:52 AM

Our guild had a project to get rid of everyone's scraps. So, we made the scraps for quilts then made blocks. Brought the blocks to guild meetings and sew days and made the quilts.
The quilts were mad and given to charties in town and individuals needed help with bedding A total of 15 quilts were made, January -May 2016

They look sew good! I've made a few of these using old cut up phone book pages, which work well too.
