This is the center of my latest embroidery project. Took a while but so worth it. I will do my own border on it.

tessagin 09-04-2013 03:50 PM

Did you hand or machine embroider? looks great! Soo very cool!

buddy'smom 09-04-2013 03:52 PM

It's all done by hand, hope to recolor it a bit, was colored but working with it seems to have lightened it up. Thanks so much.

nice work.

RainydayQuilter 09-04-2013 03:58 PM

Wow! That looks like it took a lot of time. Please post again when your project is finished. My nephew saw it and said COOL! I hope he doesn't think I can do that.

Very nice - please post again when you have the top pieced!

buddy'smom 09-04-2013 04:12 PM

Thank you, sure you could make it, just takes time, but worth every stitch.

What did you use to color it? have you tried the Inktense pencils?

Wow! I love that. I know what kind of work that was!! I just finished 3 hand embroidered panels for the pattern "Over the River and Through the Woods, to Grandmother's house we go." I had to set it aside to work on Christmas quilts, but I intend to get back to it!! As you said, it just takes some time and patience. I did all of mine at night sitting with hubby watching tv. :)

buddy'smom 09-05-2013 08:04 AM

Thank you, I just posted my over the river on the board, it takes alot of time but the results are amazing.Mine was for my son, he wanted black/white so that's how I did it, took out Grandmother and just put Mother on there. :) What color are you making your's? Would love to see a picture as well.

Very pretty. I recently saw this one done with crayon shading. Both are beautiful and I know there are hours and hours and hours of embroidery. Definitely a job well done. Congratulations!!

I, too, am making mine in black and whites. Did the hand embroidery in black on muslin. I will see if I can find yours. I have all my fabrics collected, just haven't had time to get back to it.

Ditto for my DGD She loved it and came in yelling "Grandma, Grandma look how cool." "What do you think?" To which I replied to the affirmative but "way beyond my ken." LOL I love it when she thinks I can do anything!

buddy'smom 09-06-2013 08:32 AM

Come on ladies, you can do it, I never thought I'd be doing these type of quilts but oh how I love them and very relaxing. Get this one I'm making a block called Buzzards Roost and for the life of me can not get them to line up right, the points are so off and have no clue why, so oh well the'll stay that way??? I have 30 Farmers Wife blocks I made and using them in the middle. It will be what it will be, not more seam ripping on these for me.
