I was inspired by several quilters on the board who had made this pattern, so I ordered it, started it on Tuesday and finished it on Wednesday. I used scraps that I had from other projects because I wasn't at all sure the I would figure the pattern out, but I really like the way it turned out. Some of the fabric was left from a memorial quilt that I made for friends who lost their son in a traffic accident in March, so I think they need the table runner as well. We are going to be with them on Sunday as they host a balloon launch and dedication of his tombstone on his grave.

I used a 10 degree ruler instead of 9 degree. That makes the runner a little bigger.

Can you please share where you purchased the pattern, the company name of it, etc. Thanks, I'd love to make this in fall colors.

I ordered it online and don't have that info anymore, but the pattern has an e-mail address for School House Quilts: [email protected]
Hope this helps.
Also you might search for "Spicy Spiral" on the quiltingboard. One of those posts had the info that I used to order the pattern and the ruler.

Very impressive. The colors just make it sizzle. Sad about your friends, though.

Ok Darla 10-09-2010 04:12 AM

I checked the website, $7 postage seems high when the pattern is only $9. Is that normal in US?

SueDor 10-09-2010 05:12 AM

Very nice!

For me, the hardest part was trying to figure it out from reading the instructions. I'm a "hands-on" learner. That's why I started with scraps from my stash so I could pitch it if it didn't turn out right. Once I got the hang of it, it wasn't hard at all. The instructions were very good. I never figured out the string piecing, but just sewed on 1 piece at a time. Probably not as efficient, but easier for me to understand.
