I have been working on this one for quite a while. Many of you have already seen the WIP. But, wanted to show the finished product anyway. I had a problem with this one because I used some heat bonding stuff to appliques my fans onto the blocks. It made them so stiff and hard I could barely get a needle in them for hand quilting. So, I just quilted around the fans and then tacked them with embrodiery thread through the center. It made them look kinda like the little tassles that used to hold the old fans together. I don't know if you can see them in these photos or not. See what you think.

Very nice...looks great!

skydiver70 04-03-2011 11:25 AM

Oh, how well, do I know about that fusible being hard to get a needle through. I made a small wall hanging about a month ago, and ended up pushing the needle clear through the top of my thumbnail. You can still see the spot.

Wow, I will look for something else next time. I used the Steam-A-Seam. I should have used the light, but being me, I always find out too late. LOL

cindy4857 04-03-2011 11:27 AM

you did good. the idea of the little red threads in the fan does look like part of a real fan. That is a beautiful quilt. one that is sure to be in the family for a long time.
