Started a Craftsy Class - I think I see more in my future
2 Attachment(s)
I started a free motion quilting class on Craftsy, just had to try it out once I got to thinking about being able to learn here at home, no need to rush home from work, load up my machine and supplies to go someplace across town, or perhaps the town 60 miles away ( saves lots of gas $$ this way) do it at my pace and go back to it as needed to catch what I may have missed the first time. I'm only part way through, but think it will be well worth the $ all things considered! Here's a bit of practice - Anyone else taking these classes?

Wow! that is awesome. Signed up for a free class, but have not had the time to get back too it.
I have taken or am taking several Craftsy classes and I really love them. I can learn at my own speed, play it over and over until I get it, and can take the class in my jammies! lol
I think you've got a great start at becoming really good at this! I haven't tried this much yet...guess I'm chicken. lol
I forgot to say that I think you have done a great job! One of the nice things about theses classes are that we can make our boo-boos in private, and practice, practice, practice with no time restraints...and we gain confidence. Keep going, you are doing great!!!
Thanks for the info
I've visited their site several times and window shopped their classes, but have yet to commit. Your "practice" piece is wonderful. It looks like your and your Sunshine are going to be a great team! Thanks for sharing.

I have signed up for the class but have not even watched it yet! now I am going to, thanks for sharing

Great work! I bought a class before Christmas, but as others have said, haven't had time to sit down and do it. Maybe after this week, I will have the time. I really want to do this and hope I progress as well as yoou did! Keep up the good work!
Wow!! Your work looks great. It doesn't look like practice to me....it looks like the real thing!!
that is beautiful. I just signed up for a class on rag quilts. I have so many strips, etc. that if I don't use them soon they are going to explode out of my stash. Glad to hear you are enjoying your class. I agree with you about the classes I have signed up for, the workshops, I am not a quick learner and I find I am always behind with noone to guide me so I decided to try one of these. The only thing I had to lose was 20$!
I am taking the same class and I think it is awsome, but ,have taken a break from it for awhile ,
love it ,one can learn so much from this class. Good luck. |
wow - what is the name of the class you take on craftsy to learn that?
You are really doing great!!!!!!
What a beautiful practice piece!
I 'signed up' for the two free classes - the machine maintenance and the blocks classes. Then signed up for the 'Quilting Quickly II' class for new ideas. Am thinking about signing up for the machine quilting class this weekend as the classes are on sale for $19.99. Haven't had the time yet to go through each class, though - family coming this weekend through the 4th. Will probably do next weekend when things quiet down again....great resources!
You did really good. I just might give there classes a try. Thanks for sharing the pictures.
You're doing great!
Nice work!!
I am doing the free course and loving it. Just signed up for the Jelly Roll class and can't wait to start! Enjoy :) |
I'm taking the paper piece class. I've watched all the lessons but haven't done any of them yet. However, it did show me the part where I couldn't understand how you could sew from the top but the bottom was the right side.
I have the 'Beyond Basic Machine Quilting' and still havn't seen all the segments. There is a lot of instruction and of course the printable supply list/course materials. There are several 'free' classes as well. I just signed up for the 'Quilting quickly II' class about 30 minutes ago. I recieved an e-mail from 'All People Quilt.com' with specials on most of the classes. (link attached) http://www.craftsy.com/classes/quilting. Much more convient than going out for a class and if you have questions, just ask.
Looks great! That's a very interesting technique!
Great job! I have signed up for some of these classes too. I really do like the way they present the subject. It really makes it fun to learn new techneques!
you're quilting is great! I've taken several of Craftsy's classes. That being one of them. I've gotten a lot of valuable information from that site & those classes.
I am taking this same class as well as a few others. However, the quilt police would give me a life sentence if they saw my free motion efforts thus far.
Just beautiful, great job and thank you for sharing
Have a Blessed day Ellen |
YOur quiting looks great! Love it.
I really like the Craftsy site and I have contemplated signing up for a class and after looking at your piece, I just think I might. Thanks for sharing. An inspiration for me.

WOW!! What a GREAT job you've done with your free motion quilting. I keep looking at these things and thinking how difficult and time consuming they must be. Besides that, being a perfectionist doesn't help me wanting to try this. Tell me how difficult or not difficult it is????
Your "practice"pieces are wonderful. You are ready for the real thing!!!
I am taking the two free crafty classes. I like being able to take the class at my convenience - when I have free time, in the mood, I don't have to take the quilting notions, the sewing machine to the class. If I need to review, I can pick what part I need to hear or see again. The only problem I think I might have is wanting to sign up for too many classes and then not staying focused, getting stressed because I haven't finished the block, etc.
Your machine quilting is an inspiration to sign up for this course. |
Good for you! The only way to really learn FMQing is to work at it as you have time; practice, practice, practice! It looks like you're off to a great start already.
