And I'm so nervous. I got the first border done in a beadboard (you can see the back of it on the take-up roller). I did a line at the square patch intersections, which is every 1 3/4" then another 1/4" from the first line.
The block quilting pattern is something I came up with while doodling at work. For the pointed dark patch archs around the edges I'll do curved cross hatching soon as the templates I ordered get here. For the light area around the blocks I'll do feathers in a light thread and fill that space. I just really hope this comes out well. |
It looks pretty fabulous to me.

Gorgeous!
It will be stunning.
I love it! Is the swirly quilting pattern your own design?
That quilt is beautiful. I love different colors of browns
I love it! Can't wait to see what else you do with it! I've started doing a lot more feathers and I think they will look great with your other motifs!
Yes, the quilting pattern is my own design. I was trying to come up with ways to just do a curved outline of the triangles, which was stumping me because the quilting at the point comes into the bottom middle of the next one so, I thought to do this coming from the middle of each one.
Then came the swirls to put something in the light area of each flying geese. Then, I needed to do something in the larger triangles so I put in big swirls and saw that they made another pattern where they meet in the middle. |
its very good!
That beautiful work, keep it up

Perfect Pam! Your faceted gems are now set in delicate filligree which is what your lovely quilting reminds of! You need to stop second guessing yourself and being nervous because your quilting is just as beautiful and worthy of your masterful piecing!
So far it is looking first class!

It is very beautiful so far. Love the colors, really love the quilting.
Wow! love it! I am new at using a long arm, which is really a short arm, so I have a lot of limitations. Dreaming of a long arm one day.
Looks like you have a good start! So pretty!

I have never cared for browns in a quilt, just not my color, but that quilt is gorgeous. I love it !!!!

I decided to use the cocoa thread in the light areas too. I kept going back and forth about using that or a light neutral and finally decided that the spines are mainly in the dark fabric so, dark thread would be best.
The feathers will go all the same direction around each circle and in the blocks that are between them the feathers will all end up going the opposite direction. Hard to explain but it will be apparent when I get to the next row (I did it on paper first!). |
that sure is nice. I love the colors in it. Great Job!
I am so in love with this Quilt!! It would be so amazing to have the talent to be able to to both parts of the quilt yourself!! I just got the pattern in the mail this week--I just had to order it after I was this!!
Looks great so far! Can't wait to see the finished creation!
It looks fabulous.
Beautiful, great job.

I love different shades of brown in a quilt. I have to tell you the choice of thread makes it beautiful. It enhances the quilt and your quilting makes it more beautiful. Does this quilt have a name? I know you said the quilting is of your own design. But the pattern is pretty awesome too. Very nice job.

The pattern is called Faceted Jewels. I thought it was an old, traditional pattern and I didn't use a pattern at all. I saw it on an Amish quilt site and figured it up myself in EQ7. I did later find that there is a pattern sold by that name but that doesn't mean it is a patened design. I have to find that out.
Someone posted a link once to a site that had the blocks that it is made up from, it's two blocks in that configuration but, I thought it was one block with sashing so I did it that way. I haven't named my quilt. It's for my eldest daughter. |
This is beautiful.
