Storing Fat Quarters

I was asked how I store FQs and this is my solution

I purchased "ribbon boxes" from Michaels. I think they were in the scrapbooking area for storing decorative ribbons on a roll. They come with a divider, which I toss. I fold all my FQs into approx. a 18" square, then in quarters both ways. These boxes are 14 1/2" long, 4 1/2" wide and 5" tall. The FQs fit perfectly and I can get 40-45/box. As you can tell, I organize by color LOL

I looked for an identifying mark on the boxes, and on the lid there is a logo with IRIS inside a heart.

I use slim shoe boxes.

I ran right out to Michaels. Looks like all stores do not carry this item, and it's not on their website. They didn't have any and the sales staff didn't think they ever did. I did find it on the Iris site, so now I'll hunt around and look for the best shipping price. Looks like it is ideal for FQs. Thanks for posting the picture!!!!!!

Try discount dollar store bread keepers.

I use the smaller shoe box size plastic totes as I can usually get 2 rows of fat quarters in them. I label each tote with the colors inside and have them conveniently under my cutting table. When I made my latest cutting table to fit my new cutting mat (4' x 8') I added a shelf underneath that will hold 2 shoebox totes x 5 across so 10 totes. Then I can add another 3 totes on top of each other x 5 across under that shelf for scraps cut in various sizes and orphan blocks.

I was at Menard's last night and saw their offerings of plastic storage boxes. They have many different sizes, and looks like this one might have been there. I didn't measure anything. Just looking.
