Strawberry Shortcake for Abby
1 Attachment(s)
My DDIL wanted a Spring/summer weight quilt for my granddaughter and Strawberry Shortcake was on the list. My DH saw the fabric at the LQS and insisted we go back and buy whatever we needed.
After buying all the fabrics it was time to decide what to do with it. Here is the quilt top and I am so tickled with the results. DH wanted the life-size Strawberry Shortcake for the back which is not big enough so I have to add fabric to make it larger than the top. That is for tomorrow to think about. For now I just couldn't wait to show my new favorite for my oldest granddaughter who is 3. I have enough border fabric to make valences for her room and I plan on making some pillow cases as well. Also have to think about quilting design. Thanks for looking |

I still haven't been able to get to my boxed quilt books since the move so I went online to Quilter's Cache and found the pattern for the Ohio Star Variation block in 9" so that I could use the fussy cut center blocks and chose the Morning Star block and modified it for the sashing.

Your quilt is beautiful, what little girl would not just adore it? I love the pattern you used too. I would love to see the entire room once everything is finished.

That is just darling! I'm usually not a big fan of "character" fabric but boy have you nailed it! What a great way to use that kind of fabric w/o it taking over the whole quilt. I just love it. Great, great job!
|
I love it! Nice use of colors and the white on white print is perfect.
Love seeing what you all do. |
Very cute. Makes me want to be your Granddaughter! I loved Strawberry ShortCake when she first came out. (I had boys and they were not interested in her.)
|
