Great job! I too love the scrappy look. This is one of those quilts I have planned to make someday and every time I see one finished I want to rush down to my quilt room, pull out my scraps, and begin playing! <drool>

It's gorgeous Weste!! I have some blocks done for a mostly blue string quilt...then got sidetracked, then couldn't find my foundation papers! I have more now, just need to get going again. Thanks for the inspiration! :D:D:D

very nice! When I started eyeing up a string quilt I didn't have many scraps. Now I have scraps and a "to do" list of 12 quilts. No time for scraps!

Someday....

Stitching4Fun 02-02-2009 05:09 PM

I am working on one of these for myself. I have the strips sewn together, but not cut yet.

Scrappy doesn't mean you don't match. If you choose a single color, then all the fabrics match together. This is how I do my scrappy quilts. ...let me find it...here is a picture of a quilt top I did all in neutrals. I think it matches very well. The picture was taken before I finished the top but you should get an idea of what I mean.

sewnsewer2: I love that "scrappy" quilt. Does it need a home??????? I would love to have that pattern, I need to make a wedding quilt and I want to do it scrappy. Is it easy? How about you just send me that one and I'll slap on a label (LOL)

Harmony 02-04-2009 06:40 PM

Your quilt came out great! I think you've served as an inspiration to all of us--seems like everyone is planning a scrappy quilt, but it gets put on the back burner--until someone posts a beautiful one like yours!

christina bennett 02-09-2009 04:55 AM

Good Morning,do you have a pattern for this wonderful quilt? I am still in the dark agaes on how todownload.

marta 02-09-2009 06:15 AM

I love your string quilt! Did you just make the foundation pieces, cut apart and put back together to get the blocks? I want to know how to get the blocks, as I have a clothes hamper full of scraps and strings and am getting anxious to start a string quilt.
I have made blocks for borders, but not a complete quilt.
Thanks for sharing.

beautiful quilt!!! I love scrappy quilts too. I am slowly working away on my crumb quilt.

JCL in FL 02-09-2009 02:05 PM

I'm a matchy person too and I did a string quilt last year and so fell in love with it. I can hardly wait till I get some of my current projects done so I can do another. Aren't they sharp looking? You did a good job. Love it.

weste 02-09-2009 02:37 PM

Google string quilt pattern . They give you good instructions. Instead of paper foundation the next one I will do on muslin

k3n 02-09-2009 02:49 PM

I'm thinking of doing one of these (one day, LOL) - what are the advantages of paper or muslin for the foundation?
