The technique/pattern was presented to us as "Yipes! Stripes!", but I have not seen it in print and have not found it on the internet. I do not know if it was published. It involves using striped prints where the stripes are irregular. You can choose any size for the HST's. I cut the original squares 6", which makes a slightly smaller block when sewn into a HST's. The trick is keeping everything organized, so that you can match the stripes for each block. Plus you need 3 and sometimes 4 blocks made identically. The HST's can be arranged in any fashion as desired.

Here's a blog that shows folks working on the quilt. One on the design board gives a clue as to the construction.

I do not know if the pattern has ever been published. It is simply blocks of HST's arranged as desired. The key is to use fabric with uneven stripes in the first place. I started by cutting 6" squares to make the HST's, but you can use any size. IQ2 posted the following blog, which shows a group making that quilt, and it should be helpful if you are thinking of making one. http://toadallyawesome.wordpress.com...-lol-quilters/ Dayle |

I, too, am in love with your quilt!!! I have a collection of striped fabrics that has been waiting for the right pattern! I also have been searching for a book that is about using striped fabric for different patterns.
A while back seems like someone had posted some awesome blocks using stripes, that started my collecting them. Now I can't find the posts nor books about it. |
Well, I avoid stripes but now I'll have to watch for some. Your quilt is lovely & the tourquise is perfect.
